She wanted to own the show, and was going to leave it if Dave didn’t meet their demands. Dave told them to frick off, that Barstool owns their show/content, and that they can either take his terms or leave. She chose to leave.
It was a dumb move on Sofia’s part. She walked away from easy $$$. She thought they could walk away from Barstool and recreate/distribute their show independently, and get 100% merch by rebranding it. But Barstool owned all their catch phrases and segments so it would have been impossible to come up with new stuff.
Dave had those girls by their kunts. He knew their contracts were cheap given how popular the show got. Barstool made ton off of them. Sofia was right to renegotiate but she had no leverage. It was business and they all lost. Girls lost $$$, Dave lost $$$, and fans lost.
Dave should have just given them the show but I think that would have set a bad precedent for Barstool. Barstool is basically the record company and their podcaster are “artists”. Record companies never give up ownership of content
