Noticed that was behind the ISS. Looked like a meteor? star? comet?

What speed is it traveling?

Made it from Kennah-brah to Chalmette in under 2 minutes.

It does not blink. Brightest thing in the sky hauling arse.

By brightest I meant as it passed over not all the time.

Thanks for the reminder.

I caught her up in Clinton in my front yard coming almost due NW traveling fast to the SE and in my view for about 8 minutes until I lost her behind trees in my neighbor's backyard. She's really moving.

Thanks again.

Thanks! Saw it as I was coming outside and just happened to look up. That was my first time seeing it.

Just before it dipped behind the trees it was over Cuba. I live with woods all around. I’ll bet someone on the coast could see it well into South America.

Download the Stellarium app or look for their website. It shows you all the satellites that are visible each night. Right now Elon Musk's starlink sats are visible every night right after sunset. The boy must have spotted 20 of them the other night.

To get an idea of how insanely fast the ISS is moving consider this.

17500 mph is about 35 times faster than a commercial jet airplane going about 500 mph.

The 35x faster movement is the same relative difference as a human walking slowly at 2 miles per hour versus a vehicle traveling at 70 mph on an interstate highway.

The ISS is moving at almost 5 miles a second. If it would hypothetically be flying at a few thousand feet altitude, it would practically be a blur to someone trying to spot it overhead.

So I'm assuming we rarely get a good view of it passing by?

It is visible several times a year for.about 1 minute to almost 6 minutes. Since it is over 200 miles away even when directly overhead only the sunlight reflecting off of it is seen. It is moving so quickly that telescopes and binoculars cannot track it either.
