So I was just told everything going on here and the kid has some issues that he has to take care of mentally. He’ll be fine but we shouldn’t get onto him. His momma came and brought him home to take care of him.

There’s a reason everyone walked back their insults. Shame on orgeron for the public body hurt comments.

Really hope he returns but probably not after the public flogging he just got from everyone.

Why is it necessary to use "arse" here? It's extra typing, and makes you sound like a child.

Coach O handled this situation with no tact, as he does with every situation. He threw his player under the bus. fricking selfish idiot.

Personally, I’d MUCH rather have Arik Gilbert on the team for the next 2 years than Orgeron as the coach for another game. He needs to go. Every situation that arises, be it on the field or off the field, he mishandles it badly

I'm not here to bash anyone for their personal decisions and we don't know what is going on. But the optics don't look good. I'm not sure how transparent LSU, Coach O or Gilbert can be, but when half the story is circulating, they leave people to assume a lot. All we know is he played. He started. And quit.

First he’s not a kid anymore. He is an adult.
Second, he deserves to be drug through the coals for being a quitter. Men don’t quit on their obligations. LSU needs to focus more on building men.
Best thing for Aaron right now is tough love. He needs to see how absolutely pathetic and unacceptable it is for a man to quit on his team and to bail on his commitments. Today it’s football but hopefully he has much bigger and more important commitments forthcoming that will try his resilience far worse. Hopefully he also learns from this terrible decision and stiffens his neck next time

Listen dude, I agree that people shouldn’t be shitting on the kid but you’re absolutely not helping.

All you’re doing is claiming that you know of some mitigating circumstances and not providing any details. That’s silly. If you know something, say it.

Because right now, the story makes no sense. When we thought he was transferring, it sucked, but at least it was a coherent explanation. Opting out in frigging Dec as a Freshman because “reasons” isn’t.

So if you want to help him out, produce a reason that makes sense and stop with the “I got secret sauces” crap. Otherwise, your opinion is just as valid/invalid as everyone else’s.

There comes a time in life where football isn’t important when your dealing with issues.

And when you are taking steps off the field to address those issues I have no problem with it.

You guys are bashing the kid about a game when he’s actually going through something legitimate. He’s not just playing video games waiting to transfer out somewhere.

He’s currently somewhere that exist for the sole purpose of helping him get better. Again. If every single former player and local 104.5 host has changed their tune with when they found out the real story, don’t you assholes think you should do the same considering you have 5% of the info those people do.

Are you saying the story from TOS about his whereabouts yesterday is false? You would know I’m guessing.

It comes from a source I trust about as much as you.

This could have been handled a lot better by both sides. O and Gilbert could have said he was injured and no one would have questioned his heart

You seem to be indicating that it is a mental health issue or perhaps some kind of addiction issue.

If that’s the case, why is he opting out? Why not simply inactivate him and keep him on the team?

Is there really a difference?

I’m not really sure why they handled the way it was handled. However this information comes from the same source of early Chase, Shelvin opt out leaks.

Someone who is just quitting to take his ball and go home doesn’t go to the place Gilbert reportedly went to yesterday.

Well, there was supposed to be. The whole “opt out” thing was originally supposed to be for guys who specifically didn’t want to be on the team this year because of COVID. Then it kinda got co-opted by guys who just wanted to skip the year and prepare for the draft.

Now it’s just a catch all for everyone who no longer wants to play, regardless of the reason.

Inactivating him (as far as I understand it) would keep him in the program where he could have some support for whatever he’s dealing with.
