Can’t we just be happy to see a dad involved in a kids life?

Is it too much to ask for a dad who is present and who doesn't abuse his kids?

My son played rec football/baseball from age 5 to high school. In all those years and coaches there was only one occasion where I had to go after the coach...and it wasn’t even my kid. This was in ponchatoula, 8 yo rec baseball. This kids dad had just been deployed overseas. The kid wasn’t the best athlete but he was making the most of it and was pretty bummed because his dad was deployed. During practice the coached is chiding him specifically pretty good. The kid messed up trying to steal 2nd and got out. The coach lost his ever-loving mind and started calling the kid names. The kid paid him no mind which set the coach off even more and he started running across the diamond towards the kid. I hopped the fence and got between him and the kid. We had us a little discussion about his behavior.

He was emboldened by dad being overseas. Classic bully move on his part.

I'm pretty sure most dads would beat the shite out of a guy who assaulted their child.

I'm all about the current generation of kids being tough, but that is a grown arse man taking a swing at a kid like he's fighting another grown arse man.
Helmet or not, that's enough force to do other damage to a small child like this kid.

damn when i first read it i thought who are the snowflakes that have a problem here, my coach did the same thing? Then I watched the video! Holy Crap! That dude is a straight up POS and needs to be charged.

I'd like to know what the kid did...these kids getting discipline isnt the worst thing. Obviously some take it too far. My dad kicked my arse and it put me into shape not to go do dumb shite. Coaches are like father figures for lots

Or at least attempt to.
Not many dads are wired to not physically intervene there. I'm no super badass, but I'd probably snap if that was my kid. That was a full punch.

More extreme than I was expecting.

what is fricked up - none of the ref's stepped in, none of the other coaches stopped him and none of the parents stepped in.

when my sons were growing up and playing fb and they'd play teams from black areas, areas that sent kids to Power 5 schools and the NFL every year, not all, but quite a few coaches were like that, the parents and whatever fans they had seemed to sort of expect it from corch
Posted on 12/9/20 at 2:18 pm to Byrdybyrd05
Not what I was expecting. He knocked him off his damn feet the second time.
That's doing too much right there. That's an automatic fight if that's my kid.
