I was getting ready to defend the coach until I watched the video.

Its one thing if the coach was chewing out a player and slapped him on the helmet or something, but this is a grown man hitting 9 year olds knocking them to the ground.

Even if it was his own kid, that was a little too much. You can't be a grown dude and just walk into a group of 9 year olds and start hitting them, knocking them down. Don't do that to someone who can't defend themselves.

what is fricked up - none of the ref's stepped in, none of the other coaches stopped him and none of the parents stepped in.

So you know what happened based on 20 second video clip?

The video goes on for 30 seconds after he hits the kid and nothing happens

Parent and ref reaction should have been immediate

Wow! I coached youth athletics for over 15 years.

Same. I did workouts that made them puke (15-17 year olds) but would never have even considered laying my hands on a kid including my son.

If that were my son, the coach would be getting his arse beat.

A tap is one thing. That's damn near assault.

I'm betting that's his son. It's inexcusable regardless and probably should face prosecution.

Some Followup tweets claim it isn’t his son...

Reading the comments as a dad, I’m cannot bring it to myself to watch the video. I cannot imagine my reaction if my son or even the coach and his son.

As an official, if I'd seen that, even on a high school sideline, that coach is getting a 15 yd.USL at the very least.

Okay, I made the mistake of scrolling up and saw the gif. If that video is accurate, this dude needs to be in jail, sued... I don’t care what the boy did to bring him to that level.

From the title,I fully expected to come in this thread with the when "people are too soft nowadays" theme. But then I watched the video. Damn

All I'm going to say is if that was my son playing ball and his coach did that, I would end up front page on the OT. "Thug dad walks unto field and beats football coach's arse"

Even if that wasn’t my son We would have a problem. Not only did he hit that kid unnecessarily but what kind of example is that setting for the other kids watching that. No man is going to teach my son that that is ok.
