To me this is interesting though. The collection is greater than the player.

You aren't collecting if you aren't collecting what you enjoy. There doesn't need to be big profits involved.

The golden rule for newbie collectors across all cards (sports, mtg, pokemon, etc): Collect cards you like and enjoy. Don't spend too much time worrying about values or you'll begin to hate it

My collection of 2019 LSU football rookies is slowly growing, one of my favorite collections.

I'm still waiting to finally score a PSA 7 Pete maravich rookie from auction, but they keep going up. I'll have to just bite the bullet soon and get it

Unfortunately, my collection isn’t narrow. But I don’t spend big bucks to get it. I dropped $8 on a lot of 1000 common cards today. It was all baseball, ranging from ‘82 to ‘99. If I find 10 cards I can get signed in person or through the mail, it’s worth it to me. Buying a single on eBay will be about a dollar at the cheapest.

If you or anyone else is looking for base, baseball cards let me know and I’ll save you some eBay hassle.

I have a collection of Razorback baseball rookie autos...I normally just shred all the base cards I get in Bowman and Topps...have some Panini as well...In July my shredder kicked the bucket and I’ve been too lazy to buy a new one so I’ve got too many damn cards now.

If there’s anyone you guys are looking for, let me know.

Why shred them? Grab some of those 5k boxes and stay loaded up. Not very hard to dump bulk cards

Because I just do not like the hassle of trying to sell them. Not really why I do it honestly.

Found myself chasing Kjerstad auto and lucked out and got that on my first box of Bowman Draft. Now I am stuck with all the other base cards from that Hobby Box.

Interesting. I usually throw them as one big lot on eBay as bulk and let them have at it. Not much I have to do besides slap a flat rate label on it and ship it

It all goes right back into other single cards anyway

Anyone been using HGA? Their slabs are attractive but I just wonder if they’ll ever bring what PSA does in value

I normally just drop mine off at Goodwill. Maybe some kid will come across it

I also enjoy sending junk base cards in the mail to get signed. I have quite a few including a few stars and HOF players. Spring training is always a good time to get some of your favorite players. It's quite a thrill getting home after a long day at work, and opening the mailbox to out what goodies may be inside.

Have a friend who is big into this and Pokemon. Making some good money.

My real question is why is the market for this stuff so big? Who is ultimately paying the hundreds and thousands for these worthless pieces of paper? Where does the buck stop?

There is no reason to ever shred them. Just donate them to a local thrift store so someone else can enjoy them. That's what I did with many boxes I had lying around.

I doubt any other company will

Already false. BGS has clearly shown to be just as much, if not more value then PSA.

Once SGC starts gaining a little more steam (their sister company is already just as valuable as PSA in the TCG world), they will be right up there. Their Pristine 10 is already on PSA 10 value, and their perfect 10 is equal to BGS black label

If you're going to buy sealed product, the only way to guarantee profit is to hold it sealed

Edit: but buying sealed is usually a bad idea anyway. Buy singles.

Yea, I saw that. I want all my Arkansas collection in slabs and it pisses me off. Had planned on sending them off to PSA. May just drive down to Dallas in a week or two and drop some off at BGS.

I need to get Jeff King, Drew Smyly, Ryne Stanek, Logan Forsythe, Craig Gentry, Tom Pagnozzi, James McCann, and Jalen Beeks slabbed. All auto/rookies.
