It’s not like there isn’t room for Nebraska to be good in their geographic location. Recruiting is no longer regional, it’s national. I think Frost will be able to nab some recruits from outside of the plains.
I’m not suggesting the Huskers should be in the national title picture, but there’s no reason they can’t consistently win 8 games and an occasional run at a division title.
Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas State and others have found consistent success without being in talent rich areas. You can even add Iowa State to the mix right now. I would also lump Oklahoma State into this group. They’ve convinced Texans and other decent talent to come to Stillwater.
Nebraska needs an identity, and they need to stick with it. Then do what everyone else does and poach some talent from Texas or California.

Most the fanbase seems to think he gets 5 years
Frost will get five years. This year will be a mulligan with all the Covid mess going on. I'd say he needs 7-5 or so next year and most likely in year five would need to be a Top 25 team and win at least 9 to stick around.

Scott’s got a lot to prove, seems like if we shore up being our own worst enemy we are a team with a winning record. But that falls on Scott
The late collapses against Northwestern his first year and Colorado last year are like microcosms of his tenure so far. They look pretty solid one moment, and then they manage to implode a moment later.
I think Frost can turn things around eventually, but as you said, they really need to stop being their own worst enemy. The only turnover battle they won this season was also the only game they won. Then they followed that up with 5 turnovers and another loss a week later.

Nebraska used to recruit supreme athletes to play the skilled positions from all over the country. They only needed 10-15. The rest of the team was corn fed held back, red shirted 23 year old linemen. They handed off and ran the option and won 11 games a year.
The decision makers still live in that world. 9 wins by Solich was never good enough. They have not adjusted their expectations, and are still chasing the 70’s.

Having sat through a couple of LSU/Nebraska games in the 80’s and witnessed the unmatched arrogance of their base, 20 years of suck still doesn’t seem long enough. A very good friend of mine went to Nebraska. Once they started sucking and became irrelevant, he stopped calling.

Bill Callahan was 27-22

That was 97. Twenty years ago was 2000. They were number one in 2000.

You forgot their steroid program
Or how they gray shirted tons of dudes before redshirting them
It helped them build so many monsters who didn’t play until 22 or 23 years old

Paul Johnson is available.
They might as well hire him, although Johnson doesn’t run the I based option like Nebraska used to.

Hell, Bo Pelini was 62-27 there. The people making the decisions at Nebraska are idiots. They get worse with each hire/fire
You could say the same for Tennessee.
A shame how both of those programs were last nationally relevant in the 90's are now shells of themselves.

Fired
He was fired for being an insufferable a-hole and shitting on the fans on a recording, not for his record.

I suppose the extra 2 wins/less losses allow him to keep a job.

If Pelini had Saban's record he wouldn't have been fired.
Once the Frost era ends in a few years in total failure it's time for Nebraska to accept they are a dead program. Nebraska needs to go find a young hungry coach with no past link to the program to recreate an identity. It worked in 62 with Devaney and it's their only hope now.
