The intentions of title IX were good. Females deserve the same athletic opportunities as males to play college sports. My point is that it has had a very negative impact on the smaller male sports. It has also been used to deprive male students of the presumption of innocence when accused of sexual abuse/crimes.
They spend money on these upgrades to help recruit better players which in return increase revenue that is then used to cover all the expenses of all women’s programs as well as smaller men’s programs. I like the idea of separating football and basketball from the rest of college sports and then regionalizing to eliminate travel costs

I love my football, but massive amounts spent on stadiums, gyms, lockers rooms, etc. is the reason your soccer program gets cut.

Maybe the women should start pulling their weight, and quit being the dead beats who live off the m ens programs.
Females want to play sports, go out and fund raise for it Why should Mens sports have to continue paying for women sports, who know one but girls parents, and their ghey girlfriends care about.
equal pay, right?????

You left out basketball, usually the biggest money pit in every major athletic department by a mile.

Just how did colleges fund numerous sports in the days before television money? The only revenues back then were ticket sales.

They really couldn’t take a little from Dabo’s 9 mill salary to keep them afloat? You’ve seen Clemson’s facilities they aren’t exactly hurting for cash right now. It’s sad that these programs are being cut.

Ironically, a lot of the pro runners I follow were furious on social media about how no one was taking covid seriously and how more precautions needed to be taken.
the crazy part is, the healthier some look, the more they're scared of the virus. Meanwhile some damn unhealthy fat Southerners really don't give a frick about the virus
I personally don't have a fear of covid now..we have neighbors and friends we never stopped hanging out with..but, if i were still running competitvely ...that would change. Not that i would fear dying but..the set back from a possible couple of weeks of no training, fatigue, and lingering breathing issues. Though...still wouldnt be pissed at others for doing whatever they do.

I’m hearing LSU is preparing for a $160M budget shortfall over the next 3 years due to COVID
Most athletic departments are heavily leveraged paying loans on shiny new facilities
Most have also taken loans to cover losses from this year
LSU Tennis, Track & Field, Swimming & Diving Team what else are they cutting?

College athletics isn't supposed to be about your enjoyment watching football (although I love it!) and being a feeder program for the NFL. College athletics is supposed to be about the opportunity to learn personal growth, leadership, time management, determination, etc., by the experiences you gain thru participating.
Universities don't have to provide any sports.
Education through participation?
This isn't fricking Little League. These are 18-22 year olds. Some have families. Grow the hell up.
It's adult charity plain and simple for an adult market where there's no demand.
It's University of higher education not grade school.

According to the AD, it saves over 2 million per year. It sucks, but that is the way it goes. I'm still pissed they cut out Wrestling a long time ago. Like it or not, sports like football pay the bills. To get the best players you have the have the best facilities to even be in contention.
If the Covid affects next year a lot more Olympic Sports around the nation are going to feel the burn of being cut.

I hate to say it but the lady is right. People want to dog on women’s soccer being a drag but for 90% of ADs all sports are a drag but football and men’s basketball and the whole department works in the red and has to be funded by the school.
We here in the SEC are the outlier.
What really needs to happen is not connect sports to schools at all. Have professional academies like in Europe and like what we do with tennis for the top players here too.
Sports at schools should be intramural and not a business.
But that’s a commie idea. Huh.

I’d be fine if schools had only:
Football
Basketball M and W
Baseball
Softball
And honestly I really don’t care about WBB and softball but just to be nice I’m fine with keeping those

If women’s sports are so critical then women need to start supporting them as much as men support ours. It’s that simple.
You don’t see men out here bitching that the fashion industry is so slanted towards women. We know that they’re the demographic who cares and shows the most support. This is the same thing.

And if it is the coaching staff needs to be fired and replaced

What are their expenses? Running shoes and bananas?
Come one man. Running is like the oldest sport.

What are their expenses? Running shoes and bananas?
Coaches salaries: usually 3-4 paid positions and maybe a GA or 2. However this isn’t going away since they’re keeping the women’s programs
Travel expenses (bus plane hotel etc): Clemson really seemed to do a good job of staying around that part of the country so I don’t imagine that being too bad
Meet fees: a lot of these meets charge a few hundred per team (men’s/women’s)
As I said earlier though with the fact that they host a shite ton of indoor meets I don’t see how they’re 2 million in the hole every year. I could see a few hundred thousand maybe. If they’re 2 million in the hole the athletic admin and coaching staff is completely inept.
