Kingwood is Harris County and city of Houston, avoid it like the plague

Why do you say that? I don’t live there but I could do much worse

Mont Belvieu
My son (10yo) evacuated from Sulphur with his mother to Mont Belview right before school was to begin. Their school had already started. Because he was an “evacuee”, they let him register for school over there with minimal effort. It’s going to be hard to make him come home after this semester. He truly loves it over there.

Spring needs to be moved to tier 4. Parts of it are Hood as shite.
I’d sugarland in tier 2 depending on your job location
Kingwood has a ton of drugs running thru it. Kingwood high kids always had a not fricking around drug dealer in one of the apartments.

Buy on the Atascocita side of the lake (Kingwood perks w/o Houston taxes). Decent neighborhoods between 1960 & the lake.

The one with the shortest drive to work

Or Oakhurst. It’s in Montgomery County. Nice homes in a golf course neighborhood and close to Grand Parkway/59 that is blowing up with restaurants and shopping. The front of Kingwood by K Park is also Montgomery County with better access to the back of Kingwood without Harris County bull shite.

I've only been here a few months but I'm already finding myself in Cypress a good bit and enjoying it.

Houston suburbs do not suck. Great schools, cheap real estate, and lots of other positives. Good place to raise kids.
Depending on your work place I would go with The Woodlands, Katy or Cypress.

I only have experience in kingwood and the woodlands and they both suck hard.

Kingwood is my favorite of these. It was the first attempt at creating what is now the Woodlands. Lots of good schools and while it’s a master-planned neighborhood, it doesn’t have the manufactured feel like the woodlands does. Also a lot more salt of the earth folks. Does flood, but local govt has been taking steps to mitigate since Harvey
Plus you could have a beer with this baw.
Also easy to get back to La from 90.

Where you have to commute to is the biggest factor, but taking that out of the equation.
Woodlands
Friendswood
Katy
The rest.
Great schools, reasonable housing prices. Lots of things to do locally in each. I prefer Friendswood because it's closer to salt water fishing, but Woodlands gets you close to fresh water in Conroe and Livingston.
Traffic sucks everywhere.
