I wasn't born yet, but I have "grandpa tell me about the good old days" this game.

Couple of things about this game. First, on a personal note... I was there with my brother and some friends. Talk about massive suck!! The game was chippy throughout the second half and near the end we finally decided to leave. Since the game had been chippy I literally said as we were walking down the steps “The only thing that would save this experience would be a bench clearing brawl”, and then we left the stadium, lol. Hung out at the car for a little while, got back in the car and we headed back to Jax. Never even knew about the brawl until we got back home. We did hear the crowd yelling when we were outside the stadium though so we assumed FSU had scored again.

Second thing, which is funny. Just like people DVR these days I used to always set the VHS recorder to record these games. So we played the brawl back and I caught this right away. In the OP video at 1:18 you can see our #1, Marcus Carter, lean down during the chaos, pick up a Seminole helmet, and take off with it.

I wonder if he made it back to Baton Rouge with that souvenir.

Michael Brooks blew out his knee in the 86 game at Florida.

FSU finished 10 str8 years in the top 4 in the country. They played some real teams back then. Miami Florida etc. A couple of missed FG's changed history for them, hardware wise. I remember saying no one will ever finish 10 str8 in the top 4.
Alabama has pretty much proven me wrong. Clemson is on a historic run as well.
But that 10 year streak from the Seminoles nevertheless is hella good.

I was there! Talk about a fun night partying in Tallahassee after the game.

We had a blast even though the Tigers got smoked (We knew they were going to lose before we went)

For those old enough, was that a bigger brawl then Miami in 2005/06 in Peach Bowl?

The Peach Bowl brawl had limited participants. The Florida State one was a true bench clearing brawl.

I was there. It was fun partying night before and after the game. I think Germaine williams stole an FSU helmet in the brawl and they sent someone to LSU locker room to get it.

1990’s Florida State football.

13 losses in the entire decade.

Just to put things in perspective, Alabama from 2010-2020 had only 15 losses. FSU had only 13.

Just to put things in perspective. Fla. State didn’t play in the SEC. They played in a conference where even Clemson was bad.

That was some low times for LSU football
If you told me then, LSU would win three titles by 2020 I would not have believed it.
All it takes is one great coach to get the ball rolling and credit to LSU to keep it rolling after only five years of Saban.

On their scoreboard at Doak Campbell they had FSU and LOUISIANA STATE. I guess they were going to show the SEC who the real _SU was.

LSU made a concerted push in the 1980s to only be called LSU. Until that time most of the newsprint stories called us Louisiana State or La State.
