First of all, you can't see it when you walk in. It's hung in a small hallway on the side of restaurant. It's not visible in the main dining room. Second, everyone in town knows about Southside and about the owner. Every inch of that place is covered in military memorabilia, most of which was donated by other service members. To think that flag hurts his business is absurd. That place is packed every day of the week.

Just left there and my meal was outstanding as usual.

That's good.. Seriously. I am glad to see any business succeed. But my whole point is. Do you expect people who are just passing by, who has no idea why he has it up and think "Oh look. That place has a nazi flag hanging up inside. I bet the owner was in the military and collects WW2 items".

People are more likely to see it and have an emotional reaction and they will overreact. Example: The person who posted this on FB. But if he does good business and he isn't worried about the potential customers it could cost him then it really doesn't matter.

You either are being willfully obtuse or you are a total imbecile because everyone keeps pointing out to you that it isn’t a focal point in the restaurant and considering the place is covered in military memorabilia, it would take a brain dead person to think the swastika is on display as if it is an LSU pennant at walk ons

Beyond that, it's really just perspective or bias.

Perspective, as in, look how the Facebook post intentionally made it look like it's just a flag all by itself. Even though they couldn't hide the fricking plaque on the flag explaining why that flag was there.

Or bias, as in, you are looking to be offended. And when you see this you immediately jump to "the restaurant must be racist".

The restaurant is essentially a museum. Or at the very least a shrine to battles won against terrible enemies of freedom. And the entire front of the restaurant makes that plainly obvious, unless you are an idiot. It takes a special skill to turn it into something offensive. And that's exactly what this person did.

You give people too much credit.

Let's say you are visiting some town in another state. If you passed by a cafe and the first thing you saw was BLM flags or black panther flags (not the Avenger) flying on the inside.. Are you going to that cafe or the other cafe that doesn't have any flags that you can see from the outside?

I think you are completely missing my point.

I’m not missing the point because context matters and you are acting like blm propaganda is the same as this when it is clearly not. Blm is a message and promotion of an idea. The swastika in this restaurant isn’t promoting nazism.

Liberal politicians and their mutants don't know what nazisim was.

Ate there a week ago...that place is the most patriotic place you can be in.
But this post shows just how things get out of hand. Somebody says a Nazi flag is on the wall and off we go.
Next time you are in Slidell, go eat there. Good atmosphere, a lot of interesting military memorabilia and decent food.
And if you are a veteran...thank you for your service !

One step inside of the restaurant and it’s plainly obvious what it’s all about.

It’s literally never happened before until this Facebook post, and the restaurant has been in business for nearly 30 years.

The place is always absolutely packed, so these people are just looking to complain about nothing.

Yes they sure do. Owner is an ex Marine and has WWII stuff in there. His mind set is if you don't like it don't come here.

Y’all should go look at that woman’s Facebook page. Every post is about far-left politics, much of it talking about fighting against “White supremacy”.

This woman is not reasonable and has bad intentions. She should be getting eviscerated for what she’s trying to do.

I also don’t really believe she just happened to see the banner through the crack in the window as she drove by. I think the whole purpose of her visit was to take a picture of the banner and shame the restaurant, regardless of the context.

WOW...

Good news is that you can bet the local TV will now come out and do a positive story on the restaurant and owner.

Bad news is you can bet some lib tard kid is gonna sneak out at night and spray paint the place.

Too much for me to say on this tablet... These are simple war trophies.. Shoulders, marines and sailors have bringing home war trophy souvineers since the beginning of time. WWII Cartoonist Bill Mauldin has plenty of cartoons about souvineers and soldiers.

I enjoy collecting this stuff. I have a complete room that is a total museum. And I am glad that I do since I am seeing people of the USA destroy all history before my very own eyes..

The US Army had capture papers signed officers that allowed soldiers the ability to get items home, such as captured lugers. Those items bring way more value.

Quickly... I have also signed pieces such as a Christmas day menu... One of the things that I enjoy most is pieces that have an address from back then, such as 123 W. Main St. Anytown USA... I love to Google map the address and see the place where that person lived.. But sometimes in places like Brooklyn, that person's home was torn down to be replaced by a Wal-Mart.

But regarding today as an example... I picked up some letter from a Navy Seabed and his wife... They wrote each other daily and I got a bunch oh them. They are from my home state... I thought I would give them to the family if I could find them... I did.. and the family told me to enjoy them... The family was the one who sold them to the person I purchased them from...

But I truly enjoy them..I'll share one day...

I have a picture somewhere of my WWII Museum on here. I will see if I can link it.

Just this week I picked the US Model 42 field desk. I now have all three field desks used by the US Military in WWII..

I want to keep talking about this stuff.. but I want to stop to say Thank You to all service members past and present. Thanks to you I have the freedom that I do today... And to live in this great nation.

I hurts to see kids today... no respect and no appreciation for what they have... But as they say, "You don't miss your water until the well runs dry."

I worry about our nation..

Maybe later I may share my most interesting piece that I have if anyone really is interested.

Btw...

That's not a flag... it's a podium banner used in all places back then, schools, courtrooms, offices etc...

Any place with a podium..

Just fyi...

Oh... One more thing..

This shows the detriment of social media. People post some outrage before they get all the facts... And people are easy to jump on the bandwagon for a false cause and it harms innocent people..
