re: 10 teams have shown interest in Jrue

This is why I wouldn't have a problem moving Jrue in order to get him. You have your bona-fide #1 lead guard for the next 10-15 years alongside Zion and Ingram, and the biggest thing is he will be coming in fresh knowing that he will be part of a big 3, whereas you get someone like Harden he's set in his ways.

Hayes may be my favorite prospect tbh.

Shot creator, solid passer, has Harden-esque skillset, projects to be very lineup versatile, and importantly, he takes pride in defense and has very high upside there.
I would honestly actively go after him. He makes a ton of sense along side Ingram and Zion.
I got downvoted to hell when I said trade Lonzo for Hayes

I want this team to have BI be the primary creator in the offense a la Butler in Miami but needs a secondary creator off the initial action.
I want Rubio for that.
The other two spots need to be shooters. So either play Zion at “5” with a stretch 4 or at the “4” with a stretch 5

Hayes looks like a solid prospect, but we would possibly have to move up higher than 6 for him as he’s trending upwards

Yep, he's been shooting up mock draft boards, with some rumors of Chicago wanting him. That's why the only way we are getting him is via trade.

The picks are kinda irrelevant. We would have #6 and #13 in this draft. We also have 5 1st the next 4 years and a bunch of 2nds. What does 2 future 1st 6 years from now do for us? And if we already have #6/ #13. What does #19 and #34 do for us > another young player?
Picks irrelevant? Picks are never irrelevant. You forget so easily every year how Dell was desperate to put talent around AD but coukdnt because he had already traded away that years first. You never know when you have to attach a first to get rid of a bad contract or make a trade for a player that goes on the block unexpectedly.
I’d much rather Griff have numerous firsts in the future to play with to make sure to put the right pieces around Zion instead of always trying to dig himself out of a hole like Dell did year after year.....

B/R has a new article for Timberwolves trade ideas, one if which includes Jrue.
Minnesota: Jrue Holiday
NOP: James Johnson, Jake Layman, Josh Okogie, #1
They go on to say no matter what, unless Minnesota wants to mortgage their future, the value of the #1 pick will be Jrue/Oladipo level. They went with Jrue because he's the better player.

I don’t even want the #1 pick in this draft.

I would take it, just to flip it to someone like Chicago, who would probably go after Lamelo.
Adding to what they had:
NOP: James Johnson (buyout), Wendell Carter, Layman, Okogie, #4
Chicago: NAW, #1
Minnesota: Jrue
At #4 we take Killian, 13 could be a D&S like Poku, or an older player to contribute right away like Saddiq Bey. That would be a good deal for us.

That's exactly why the #1 pick in the draft is great for us.
We already have our franchise player in Zion. We use #1 to get Hayes who will be our proper point guard of the future

I have a bit of an interesting spin on that. I love 1st rounders and would love to stockpile picks/players all day. But top 5 picks need to be sure things, not projects. Even top 10 is a bit of a risk. Why? Cause of the money. Look at last year's picks and what they will make this coming season..
1. Zion- 10.2M
10. Hayes- 5.1M
17. NAW- 3.1M
I know if sounds like penny pinching, but those dollars are going to matter down the line. I'd rather 2 picks in the late lottery than top 3, in this draft. Especially if we are not sure if they are going to be good..

Money is only really an issue if you're a club who can attract good free agents. Titles are won on the back of top tier talent. Draft a guy and you control him for 7 years.
Gale is willing to go into the tax also.

Its just spending wisely, which every good team should do. There should be a purpose behind it. If we believe someone like Wiseman is a future starter at Center and will be great, then I'd be all for the move. But drafting top 3, then paying someone 10M a year to be a project and a back up is reckless. I'd rather draft in the 10-25 range and pay the players under 4M a year..
That why I'd love to shake loose a couple of picks from someone like Boston that has a bunch of late 1sts and wants to dump them..

As crazy as that sounds, i completely agree.

I'm talking about Hayes specifically who would be the point guard of the future

You would take Hayes #1 overall? What about Ball?

As of right now, Ball isn't a good/creative enough playmaker or finisher in the half court to be a true lead guard. Doesn't seem to have the aggression or nous for it. Nor is he much good in pick and roll situations which is bread and butter offense in the NBA these days

We have a lot invested in Ball. If they trade one, I don't think we get rid of the other. Now if we trade Ball, I could see us making a move into the top 3-6 to find a lead guard. But if we move Holiday, I think we give Ball another year.
I know I'm one of the only ones, but I love Ball's potential. Van Gundy has a nice history with developing PGs and I think he could help him out big time. People have to temper expectations though. I don't think Ball will ever be an all star. But he can be a solid starter and defensive stand out..
