SVG will still tweet but knows he needs to change his tone now

"Once I got out of the bubble, time was all I had," Van Gundy told Bleacher Report over the phone from his home in the Orlando, Florida, area, hours after taking the Pelicans job. "Walk the dogs in the morning and then sit down and do political stuff. Now, I have a lot more to do, so it'll be less. And I think when you're representing an organization, you've got to still be true to your beliefs, but the tone of things has to change because you're not just representing yourself anymore, and you have to be cognizant of that. Nobody in that organization has said, 'You need to stop tweeting' or 'You can't express your beliefs' or any of that. Nobody's said that to me. But I am cognizant of the fact that every once in a while, I can get a little too...harsh, I guess? And I'll be careful to avoid that."

For those that were concerned, he knows he needs to take it down a notch.

Thats fine. But he literally tweeted out that he doesnt like me. Which is fine. But his beliefs are literally "I dont like you". Its not like he was tweeting some high level intellectual political opinions.
Not a great start. And the only way around it is if your advice is to be a bigger man than the guy who was just hired to be the head coach. Which based on his tweets, i might just be lol.

Unfortunately, that is the America we now live in. Slide over to the MSB, OT, or Poli boards and mention you are a Democrat, and watch as you are called the "scum of the earth", "liberal filth", and alike. We have reached such a level of disrespect in this country, that many are beyond the understanding that it is ok for me to have different views than you and that we can still manage to get along.
Stan is a smart and very self aware guy. He knows he is now one of the faces of this organization, and he will act accordingly.

Yes, because liberals show great restraint and respect when it comes to people they disagree with. It goes both ways, but only one side is actually truly fearful or repercussions of expressing political opinions and it aint Democrats.

Ladies and gentleman, the most oppressed class in America, white conservative men in the south.
Pour out some liquor and say a prayer, they will need it in these hard times.

Honestly, I find it really amusing that most of his political tweets got like less than double digit likes or retweets but TD pol’s have been having a non-ending fricking meltdown about the guy.

He already confirmed he was going to tone it down.

Yep, that's why I've opted out of politics, at least on the national level. The hate is toxic and the level of vitriol on both sides for anyone that disagrees with them is juvenile and petty and has gone way over the line. Of course it's them not us...common refrain on both sides. I don't want to be a part of that. And I'm not.

Just like Pop, Steve Kerr, and Lebron, I really don’t care about SVG’s political stances. I think it’s pretty dumb that so many people put stock into what sports stars or celebrities think.

nobody cares what they think...they just don't want it thrown at them ad nauseum like some kind of brainwashing.
then people start to reject it openly, then those pushing the message make themselves out to be victims...then it becomes us against them.
nobody wants that shite but it has and will continue to happen...rinse and repeat

I hope not Swin Cash is very anti Trump, Griff is also & they haven’t been silent about it. I hope he keeps that level of social awareness. This is not the time to be quiet. Pop is on the front lines with his players & that’s what you want in a coach.

Yet like SVG none of them can say why, they just spew off lies about him.
Which is why so many people say they should just shut up and dribble.

Maybe you don't like the reasons why?
