Not one cent.
And let me catch you pulling that in my presence and I am beating the ever living frick out of you before arresting you.
This isn't Hollywood. Some of us took the oath we made serious and continue to respect our life's work.

Yes. Of course this is all hypothetical. You are a parish deputy, the interstate runs through your parish. The runner is an idiot an is going dangerously fast so you pull him over. Just to avoid in questions like "so I would have to do an illegal search?"..
Lets just assume he has a huge bag of cash in the front seat and all the product in the back seat and its easily visible. You handcuff him and put him in the back of the car then call it in. You could easily grab a few stacks out the bag and put it away before anyone shows up.
Lets say you don't take any of the money, but the next officer on the scene does. What do you do? After all. That money will be put in the evidence that will just sit there for who knows how long.

I’m bored listening to this Bartók, I’m going Chopin.

I wouldn't take anything. Not going to jail. The drug dealer would know I took it and word would spread that I'm dirty.

So you are a police officer I assume? First, thank you for putting your life on the line.
With that said, you say isn't hollywood, but do you think it never happens?

Do you think the money in the evidence room ever get skimmed from?

Finders keepers. Where I live they keep the vehicles they were driving, the cash, the guns, and anything else of value. Some of its used to fund the police department.

And when the guy you took it from gets popped down the road, especially if by the Feds, he'll rat you out to get a better sentence. And even though he can't prove it, the information provided is probably enough for the Feds to try and put together a police corruption case. 6 months to a year later, when you're shaking down another drug dealer, it will be an undercover agent or a cooperating witness. And then you'll be doing a long stretch for public corruption.

There are some departments that will take a vehicle they bust and use it as special vehicle.. Like a D.A.R.E. vehicle. Or they put them up for auction.

Your word against someone you busted who would have an incentive to make up something about you. What is the dealer going to say? That's bullshite. I didn't have $75k, I had $125k.
So you had $125k? Prove it.
Someone has never seen an actual IAD investigation. When Internal Affairs gets involved, the accused LEO is treated like a criminal.

A criminal gets busted by the feds. He is looking at a long sentence. He then says "When I was busted by this police department, I really had $125k on me but they only reported $75k". Oh really? Can you prove it? "No"."So you wait until you are looking to serve serious time to tell us this in order to look for a reduce in sentence?".
Its the criminals word against the cops word. Perception favors the police.

Were you the cop that got fired from BRPD for posting on here?

Again, when Internal Affairs gets involved, and they would, the accused LEO is treated like a criminal. He/she gets questioned as if they have to prove their own innocence. Their bank accts can be subpoenaed, recent purchases verified, etc.

I was always to paranoid of IA to take anything from anyone. I also never wanted to embarrass my family. That made it easy for me to not even think about keeping anything
