Griffin did talk about Ingram playing SG and there is no doubt he would be a match up nightmare for other teams. But the only other "SF" listed on the roster is Miller, who is even still small for a 3. So instead, we would have to play Miller or Hart, who would be overmatched regularly. So what are we gaining by Ingram sliding down?

Of course we vouls draft or pick up a FA. But we have massive needs at C and possibly PG (depending on what they do with Ball). It would be an error of roster construction. A big gamble, with very little pay off. Ingram would have to go off to Harden levels for it to make sense..

I get the mismatch and all that but it makes no sense with the current roster. And we don't even have a coach, so we don't know what said coach is willing to implement. The idea that if we trade Jrue then BI is 100% taking his place just isn't true unless you're Griff.

Why would the Kings choose BB over Hield? Hield is younger and puts up slightly better #s.. BB is going to get pretty big money, so he isn't any cheaper..

Buddy is turning 28 in December. BB turned 28 in August. Age isn’t a case for Buddy.

Buddy pouted. That matters.

If we move Holiday, 100% guarantee BI is moving to the 2, and we will look for a 3&D 6'6+ wing in return from the Jrue trade.

I hope they aren’t this stupid. If we trade Jrue we need a primary ball handler/facilitator.

I really don't understand this stuff about playing BI at the 2. At all. Y'all are putting way too much emphasis on an offhand remark from Griffin that doesn't mean anything. BI right now is a 3. He is precisely a 3, not a 2/3 or a 3/4.

But, with increased muscle gain (we saw some of this in the bubble and I think that more is coming), he could better play the 4, and we obviously know that we can be successful in small lineups with Zion at the 5. It makes much more sense to play BI at the 4 than at the 2.

He’s a wing no question.

Ingram is a SF. An all star SF. He has the height, length and skills. Moving him to the SG is a net negative and we end up losing value

He’s more of a net negative when we have to stick Jrue on some of the best 3’s in the league

Why can't you get both?

Let's go hypothetical here, and say Houston needs/wants to shed some money, JJ comes and says he wants to go to Brooklyn, so we do him a solid, and Jrue is fine with being moved to Chicago, and we go with SVG and still want to win now. We could go 2 separate trades, 1st being

NYK: Westbrook, #13
Rockets: Portis, Miller
Pels: Covington

Rockets save almost 31 million this year with this move. Pels get their 3&D wing that moves to the 4 in closing lineups.

2nd trade:
Pels: CP3, Wendell Carter, #4
Nets: JJ
Bulls: Jrue
Thunder: Lonzo, Dinwiddie, Thad Young, 21 Nets 1st, future Bulls 1st

At #4 take Killian Hayes to groom under CP3.

CP3,Ingram,Covington,Zion,Carter starting 5

Hart, Hayes, Hayes, Melli, NAW off bench, along with still having the MLE to add another guy

The bulls or the Nets woudln't do that.

Here you go:

Pacers get Buddy and Pelicans #13
Kings get Wiggins, Dinwiddie and #2
Warriors get Jrue
Nets get Redick and two early 2nds
Pelicans get Oladipo, Barnes and 2021 minny 1st, #19

Pacers are trading Oladipo for Hield and #13. I'd say thats good value for 1 year of him.
Warriors are trading Wiggins, #2 and 21 1st for Jrue, which i think they'd do.
Kings are trading away Hield and Barnes, and getting back Wiggins, Dinwiddie and #2
Nets are trading Dinwiddie and #19 for Redick and two of our 2nds (the cleveland and/or washington 2nds)
Pels are trading Jrue, Redick, two 2nds and #13 for Oladipo, Barnes, #19 and Minny 21 1st.

Proceeds to put forth almost the exact same trade, with Nets giving up more by sending #19.

All good.

To touch on your other point, I can see Chicago doing it for a multitude of reasons.

1) Hiring Billy Donovan is a win now hire, and they have to make moves to make it happen.

2) They will need to decide between Lauri and Wendell before they end up with a Turner/Sabonis situation.

3) They already have a bunch of young talent, they need to add a vet to tie it all together.

You guys keep grasping to that Warriors hypothetical which they have blown up at every opportunity. They aren't dumping Wiggins. They need athleticism on the wing. They have a big exception to add to the 2nd pick, so they don't have to include him. They can keep Wiggins and trade the 2nd for Oubre or TJ Warren. Why give up all for just Holiday? They were fishing earlier, that's all..

Warriors will not in any way give up #2 for a top 25 player guys.

They will give it up for a top 75-100 guy though!!

Also, that TPE expires before FA opens which is when trades can happen.

I'm not opposed to getting a 3 and D wing, but the Jrue trade is where we need to get the facilitator, because he's our best asset. Even in the proposed trades that you posted, we're getting the facilitator back in the Jrue trade, not the other trade

Well the trades could be done together, but a 7 team trade is highly unlikely, so its basically one trade done in 2 parts

The point is that our biggest need is a primary facilitator, and we will most likely need to use our biggest asset is order to fill that need. Jrue is our biggest asset. If we can get a 3 and D wing in the trade too, cool, but it shouldn't be the primary goal, because it's not the primary need.

ETA: the difference between a 2 and 3 is negligible, so I don't see what the big hoopla is about

I would rather keep Lonzo at the "2", keep Ingram at the "3", and pick up a primary facilitator, because I value the transition facilitation that Lonzo brings to the team.
