That was the year football was invented for Oregon. Then they didn’t get attention until Nike made them a household name by 2002. In fact, a loss to Oregon in 2001 by UW was used against UW in the BCS argument that year (despite UW beating a very good Miami and Oregon State team (who throttled Notre Dame in the fiesta).

Prove me wrong Oregon fans.

SEC has won 12 in the past 17 years.

But, but the little 10 is the best conference, right?

Didn’t we kick the shite out of Wisconsin the last time we played?

Yeah but '94 Penn State was great...the fact they didn't even get a share let alone win it outright was one of the greatest cons in CFB history.

PSU had still to this day a top 3 offense of all-time.

They dropped from #1 in the polls (even AFTER winning) because Dr. Tom said he was going to retire and he'd retire without winning one and so the sports mafia colluded together to leapfrog Nebraska over PSU in the polls...all because they beat Colorado which was over-rated due to a miracle Hail Mary by Kordell Stewart to beat Michigan.

'94 Nebraska was a year away, Penn State would've whipped them.

Penn State's scoring drives averaged 1:30 seconds.

First play of the Rose Bowl, Ki-Jana Carter takes it to the house.

Only 2005 USC had a better offense.

34-24. But what does that have to do with anything? The difference is that other B1G schools don't talk shite and puff out their chest chanting "Big Ten!" when OSU rolls people. But in the SEC, the scrub programs act superior because LSU and Bama are winning titles.

Judging by what I’m seeing in the OP there doesn’t seem like there have been many opportunities for a Big 10 chant?

No one thinks of that Michigan team as the NC that season.

It doesn't just hold for football and national championships.

Couple of things:

Penn State dropped after a 35-29 win over Indiana. Lions were number 1, and IU scored two garbage time TDs. In that era, many pollsters saw the final score and voted. You didn’t have instant access to highlights or loads of talk shows breaking down each game.
Sad thing is Indiana finished 6-5. They weren’t total trash.

Colorado was 11-1. Not sure how you can be overrated with that. They played Wisconsin, Michigan, and Texas for non-conf...ranked 10, 4, and 16 respectively. Michigan and Texas were on the road. They also collected two more top 25 wins against KState and OU. They blew out Notre Dame in the Fiesta. Colorado was legit.

Nebraska defense was stout. They were a worthy champ. It’s a shame Penn State didn’t get a split in an era where those were common.

And Oregon was good that year. UW was screwed in that mess.

I remember the hype around Oregon starting in 2000 when Joey Harrington had billboards in Times Square.

What was tainted about the win? I know it was a tight game, but how is that tainted?
