I think everyone thought it was a safe hire, look what he did at Nebraska, shite head almost one 10 games and did multiple times. Blaming O is correct but he’ll get it fixed after the season.

I tried to tell you guys that we were losing a top flight DC in Aranda. I said, and still think, that Bo Pelini is a good coach. The main problem is inexperience - young players, a new system, and an abbreviated pre-season in which to learn it.

When the hire was announced I hated it. Friends and family talked me back and listening to the sunshine pumping I got excited for the attacking D Line and Gaye and Ojulari in particular.

I should have trusted my gut.

A big fat arse GUILTY for me too. I hated the O hire, then I was happy as hell to be wrong after 2 seasons and loved the guy. Now I am totally confused.

I was good with the hire for most of the same reasons but Captain Obvious told me Saturday that I was wrong. Hopefully O agrees and changes will be made but for now I guess we just bitch and moan and deal with it.

I predicted this all along. Pelini has a personality disorder. His screaming in your face technique may have worked 15 years ago, but not today with these new age players. They have softer skin than the players of old and will carry a grudge that affects their playing. Was against this hire and it appears that I was right.

I was excited that we would have an attacking style defense with our dline penetrating more and making plays in the back field. Along with our great db's I thought how can this not work.

Well 3 games in and I never would've thought I would see lsu defense play this bad. Is it fixable? I hope so but I do trust O will make the necessary changes if it doesn't get fixed.

I think there was an uneasy/hopeful optimism amongst most of us that was largely driven by the glorious “this is just as I imagined LSU with a QB” that we were all basking in.

Had this hire been made in 2018, I don’t think you would have seen such a positive reception.

The Pelini hire might as well have been accompanied by a “Make LSU Defense Great Again” slogan. People eat that shite up. Rarely do people go back and look at the “great” era and analyze it thoroughly. The past almost always seems rosier.

If you had you would’ve realized Pelini was mediocre while he was here. He inherited an incredibly well stocked and well coached Saban and muschsmp defense that was perfect for mid 2000’s SEC.

If you go back and watch sec offenses from that era....it’s astonishing that anyone could think success than as a d coordinator should equate to success now. Pelini lined up in a 4-3 with nfl talent and SEC teams with 2-3 stars lined up in the I and ran it write at Wroten and Williams. The game is so different today.

Moreover, the defense had already started to regress in 2007 when the Saban influence waned. Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, mediocre teams tearing us up. An ability to get off the field. Becoming easier to score on as the game progresses. Sound familiar through three games?

I did want to attack the QB more with the talent we have regardless of who we brought in, but I haven't even seen us really get after the QB outside of Ali in the 1st two games.
