Is there any chance this thing ticks east just before landfall?

Not much. It'll be in the NHC cone with a higher level of confidence than normal. Where in the cone still matters for Houma up to New Orleans and Slidell but that's hard to answer until it's rolling in.

Both AMSR2 and GMI got a look at Tropical Storm #Zeta a few hours ago (separated by 5 minutes of each other!). Looks like the low-level eyewall is completely closed. This is a structure I could see yielding some quick intensification over the next 12 h or so. LINK

Idk. 77 pages is a pretty long thread. Wasn’t ATPB like 100?

It's moving fast enough where the water temps won't matter, it's all about how much shear is getting to it.

So it’s possible and Cosmo is acting like PeeJ up in this thread

Purple colors on land are not good. Glad I just spent 3 hours battening down the hatches near 29.5 North 90.3 West (right near the purple / brown color line. Now I just wait and watch until I guess I lose power.

How far out of dodge are you going Duke? That helps me gauge what my level of alarm should be.

BR and I would just stay in NOLA if I didn't have the one month old.

In a good structure, just prep for a few days without power and hopefully it won't be that long.

Today certainly one of the more rare synoptic weather contrasts you will see in the CONUS.

As TC #Zeta approaches a warm & moist GoM coast, record breaking cold in the lee of the Rockies & cutoff low have resulted in a high-impact winter storm in TX/OK.

That is why he now works for the NHC. His illustrations alone were worth the hire.

This has to be the shortest hurricane thread that is within 36 hours of hitting Louisiana

That is concerning. Hopefully, it doesn't bite people in the arse.
