Other than that, they’re doing great!

He had a lot vs state. Stop sugar coating it. Dude got torched and gave up big plays today. He’s good but no Stingley from last year.

I agree, I said a lot of this to a friend after the game. The LBers and safeties seem clueless.

This defense was recruited for a 3-4 and bo runs a 4-3.

Once he gets his guys that fit his scheme and style of ball the defense will be one of the best in the SEC it’s gonna take the rest of this year and next year.

Look at Kiffin’s offense. He just arrived in the offseason and he put together and installed what he wants to do with very little talent.

This has nothing to do with Pelini, but you are wrong about Ole Miss on offense. They’ve got some legit skill talent. You saw it when we played them last year. Kiffin and his OC just know how to use it better than Rich Rod did.

A better argument is Mizzou. They were down multiple WRs, have a freshman QB, and also don’t have the overall skill talent that OM has running a new scheme with little practice. And they had everything down cold, knew exactly what to do and killed our defense with it.

Because we struggle with base defenses so much there is no way to disguise and confuse the QB without confusing ourselves in the process

The simpler we get, the easier it is to torch us

Orgeron knew what he was getting when he hired Pelini. If he hired a DC who he knew wouldn’t mesh with the players currently on the roster, then he deserves 100% of the blame.

Did he really though?

According to Orgeron, he did.

This is the main problem on defense. They are getting isolation on Clark on short routes across the middle where he gets matched on a WR. Clark simply is not fast enough.

Additionally we got gashed on the run mostly on the inside. The line gets no push and it is being handled by oppossing offenses way too effectively.

But what really concerns me is the amount of long passes caught wherein the wr's were wide open...by a lot. This tells me the dbs don't know or are confused as to what to do. No one was around them....no one.

I don’t know, but if they can hold Florida to under 70, they will have made some progress.

I haven’t seen much improvement in the defense in 3 games. That makes me look at Pelini.

Just start with the obvious.

This is beyond unacceptable. O needs to do something. I expected a drop off from last season but not to this extent.

Agree all around. It it’s odd to me that guys that have been doing some kind of these things for years and were apparently highly rated at it, can now be suddenly unable to to those fundamental things.

Either Bo's schemes are too comoplex for them to catch on or LSU players are not the right recruits to fit his scheme.
or option 3. His schemes are not complex enough and it’s easy to out scheme him.

We can pick a player from each level that is doing their thing but all levels of the defense are terrible right now. We lost all of our leaders, our players that also coached and corrected, and who just happened to be our best minus Stingley.

And then throw in the disappointments thus far being Stevens and Clark. Stevens was able to shine last year bc we had reliable LBs, Delpit all over the field, Lcckdown corners, and gap pluggers with Shelvin and Lawerence.

A few things will improve due to repetition, practice, learning experience from what not to do type shite, but overall this will be a pretty bad defense all year.

statistically the worst LSU defense in history. HISTORY

You know who also brought in a completely new system? Joe Brady...

Serious question. Is this the worst season for a defending national champion? 1-2 record and giving up so many yards and points. I really wonder what’s the worst record the year after a team won the national championship.
