You use cosine every day. If I’m doing 80mph in a 70 zone, and the cop is 30deg off from my directional velocity, will I get a ticket? No, cosine of 30 (off the top of my head) is about .85 and the cop would be reading around 70 mph.

I found the probability distributions challenging - although I took probability theory during a summer course where my brain had a lot of extraneous substances taking up space...

You shite outta luck baw. My mom is dirt and my wife wouldn't piss in a Bama fan's mouth even if their three remaining teeth were on fire, especially one that is also a necrophiliac. So just head back to Gumpville and pick up a sack of flour on the way so you can roll your fat arse sister-wife in it, I don't care if you frick her or fry her.

Geometry and algebra regularly, but I have a STEM job.
The most complex I get is systems of equations.
The hardest part is never the math.
The hardest part is making sure the thing I’m trying to model is accurately represented in the equation

Simple addition and subtraction. To dismiss my morning alarm you have to solve a math problem. That way I can't turn it off by mistake.

Percentages...as in increase or decrease.
I work in digital sales so need to find good percentages to tell a compelling story.

Can someone please provide a real life situation outside of work where you would ever use pi, sine/cosine or any trig concepts, or my personal favorite standard deviation or whatever other BS I memorized temporarily in statistics class back then?
People with a good understanding of what a standard deviation is (not necessarily being able to calculate it) will be getting more useful information from the current Hurricane Delta prediction cone than people who don't have that.

A couple of months ago I needed to determine amount of fluid remaining from the level in a cylindrical tank that is set on its side.
I have to do a fair amount of Parshall flume and Weir calculations. Occasionally, pipe full calculations.
Thank goodness most of those flow tables are already done.

Then you realize that MPG is highly influenced by aerodynamic drag and that drag increases exponentially with MPH. That extra 10 mph equates to almost a 33% increase in aerodynamic drag on your vehicle. You can gain a significant amount of MPG by sticking to 70...

Ain't nobody that hangs around tOT for more than a week gonna be triggered by a fricking your wife or mom joke but just letting you know my mistress is off limits.
It was just a good excuse to rattle off a trove of Bama tropes on a boring Thursday morning. I will say I amused myself with the frick her or fry her phrase.

I had a company commander that set 4 alarm clocks each one farther from the bed so he had to walk into the bathroom to cut the last one off. We found out later this MFer could sleep through incoming fire. I couldn't even get to sleep and he was out like Michael Jackson mainlining a gallon jug of propofol.

I have people that do my math for me.

I use trigonometry all the time, Euclidean geometric principles are probably the most practical tied with a few algebraic functions I use often. I'm using a CAS if I'm doing anything involving calculus, definite integrals are not an uncommon occurrence in my work.

My physics professor in college graded on a Standard Deviation curve.
+ 1.5 SD from average = A
+1.49999-0.500001 SD from average = B
+/- 0.5 SD from average = C
-0.499999 - 1.5 SD from average = D
Less than 1.5 SD from average = F
It was very easy to pass the class (about an 93% chance), but very hard to make an A (only about 2 students in a class of 30 could expect to make an A). That was OK with me. I once have a 40 something on one of his test, and it was a SOLID C.
