I don’t mean this to be insensitive with Delta on the horizon, but my family is rebuilding after Laura and my other cousin is halfway done with his dream home in Laffy and I’m trying to get them to realize it’s ok to leave Louisiana.

With the politicians, crime, and hurricanes, have you debated leaving for good?

I just don’t get why people keep putting up with it.

I’ve lived in a few other states- the people and food are why I’ve stayed in Louisiana.

I would, but my family and friends are here and my job luckily is pretty good. Love La, but damn are the voters here low IQ.

I can see leaving because of politics or crime in an area but I don't understand leaving because of hurricanes. If you live on the gulf, they are a fact of life but every place has issues.

Hell, IA and IL where hit by a land Hurricane (derecho) earlier in the year.
Every place has issues be it fires, floods, hurricanes, snow storms, earthqakes, drought, tornados, tsunamies, volcanos etc.

My parents are still cleaning up after Laura and I am fearful for them especially at their age but my Dad doesn't have any plan on leaving.

Been there, done that.

Miss the food and some family, but quality of life is much better elsewhere.

My family has already accepted the fact that my job allows me to relocate anywhere in the country I want to, so when my loan debt is paid off and I decide to get another local job I'd say there's less than a 5% chance of me coming back to Lousy-ana. The jobs here pay significantly less than other areas in the country combined with the terrible healthcare and public services. The company I work for has offered me a desk job in Nebraska several times already, and I'm likely going to take it.

Family is what keeps most people here so no I don’t think many people will leave due to a storm.

Neither are significant bothers to me. Not even close to being something I would move for.

I have. I was born and raised were I live. I have 1 relative a further south in LA that I care about and 1 in San Antonio which is relatively close. The remainder of my relatives that I deeply care about are here as well as numerous very close friends. My business also can't just be picked up and moved without a substantial interruption in business. I also love a lot about Louisiana. But the politicians (including the horrid state GOP), crime and hurricanes weigh heavy on me. No place is perfect and that is what I keep telling myself.

I'm only still in LA because of my wife's parents/kids' grandparents. I figure in 10 years I'm out of here, regardless. The kids will be grown.
