Losing Devin White and Patrick Queen in back-to-back years is pretty massive (not to mention Phillips and Divinity).
Everyone knew at the time that losing White was going to hurt, but we had great returning talent. Losing Queen is proving really big and his play on Sundays is showing just how great he was last year.

Thought it was weird how much we let up in the run game. Vandy's OL is terrible and they pushed us around a good bit. It'll help to get Logan back, but that was the most troubling thing I saw on Saturday from the D.

The LBs are not doing very well with flowing to the ball and shooting gaps. They are running themselves out of plays in the run game and out of position on pass plays.
Jabrill has shown flashes, but has been out of position quite a few times as well. Clark is a step behind and Baskerville is AWOL.

The thing that killed us with miss st was stingley being out just before the game. We win that game with him in the lineup

DL is fine, the LB duo of Clark and Baskerville is underwhelming

cox has been terrible vs the run

Only going to get better with Logan coming back
Gaye and Ojulari get constant pressure

If one does not understand the reasons as to why MSU was such a bad first game matchup for us, and then being down our all-everything DB...then there's not much hope for them.
Will we run the table the rest of the way...prolly not.
Are we better than the MSU game...prolly so.
Everyone needs to just chill out.

I dont think they are bad at all. But they are going to be vulnerable vs the run.
Bama is going to be trouble, as is Ole Miss and Florida.

Aside from White, LSU lost 4 LBs just from last year that accounted for:
281 tackles
37 TFL
13 sacks
Clark remained but has been in the 3-4 the last two seasons. It will take some adjusting.

I had a poster tell me that Stingley would not have made a difference against MSU. He is just one guy, and all he could cover is one WR. And if I didn't understand that, there was no point in having the discussion.
That's almost word for word too.

1. No one is saying the DL is bad.
2. Miss State threw 300 passes. That gives the DL plenty of opportunity for most of those stats you reference. Lets see how it evens out over the course of the schedule.
3. See number 1 again. I think most people are pleasantly surprised with the DL play, especially pass rush.

So who said the DL was bad? Have not heard that one...

I'd like to see more Jaquelin Roy

MSU 60 pass attempts
Vandy 25 pass attempts
throw in some sacks and QB scrambles which would inflate the overall number of dropbacks....
58 total pressures is still pretty damn good.

I think you'll get your wish. He's ready to start now, but will likely share snaps for a while and see increased PT as the season progresses.

You will see this all season from the OP. He made 500 threads about how much Aranda sucked last year. OP is an Orgeron first guy. Aranda wasn't his hire, so he gets shite on all season. BP is his hire, so he will find any way possible to praise him. The LSU team is secondary to his love affair of Orgeron. Get used to it, because it won't change.

Yeah, of all the things that went wrong against MSU, the defensive line wasn't really one of them. I noted on the scoreboard the other day that the pressure has been a constant from LSU in the first two games.
Now, the run defense hasn't been great, but that stands to get better with Logan returning. What the D-line really needed to work on after the MSU game was containment. They would get the pressure off the edge, but nobody was home up the middle. That was much better against Vandy.
My biggest concern, by far, for the defense, is whether or not Pelini will bother to make adjustments against the more vertical oriented passing attacks like Florida and Alabama, down the road. Because he sure made none against MSU, and it's not like Leach surprised anyone with the plays he ran. His offense is as redundant as it gets. I know the injuries were a problem in the secondary, but you have to have a plan, regardless of personnel. If no one knew how to play in a zone, then I'm just wondering who might be to blame for that.

Who said the D Line was bad? Where are you guys getting this persecution complex?

Instead we blitzed linebackers, dbs most of game.
That's a Pelini problem, not a D-line problem. Our D-line created a lot of pressure and forced 2 (almost 3) fumbles that helped keep the game much closer than it would have been otherwise. If you wanna blame Pelini for blitzing too much that's fine and I think most would agree, but saying the D-line didn't help against state is far from accurate.
