Europe seems to have very strict gun control. How is that working for them?

My understanding is that they have lower gun violence but higher numbers of violence via other methods like knives. They haven’t as far as I can tell sacrificed too many liberties. At least it seems like people over there based on my travels seem to still live in a free society without guns. What am I missing or is their culture just different where that can work for them?
As a new gun owner I feel like this is a liberty I could not live without but I’m curious how those who don’t have it do.

Europe has also been dominated militarily twice in the last century. The 2nd Amendment is what keeps this from happening here.

I agree. Along with those two oceans and two very benevolent neighbors (not that either particularly worries me). I do think about that a lot. Anybody who invaded the US would have quite the guerilla war on their hands.

No, our size and our remoteness from Eurasia are the primary reasons. Guns certainly help in a way, but no one in the world has the ability to invade us due to the first two reasons.

Mass immigration will change how many Europeans feel about present day gun laws

I’m pretty in most of Europe you can own firearms, at least for hunting.

Right. I think most places you’re stuck with break open shotguns and bolt action rifles. Basically the least dangerous guns there area. No handguns or semi automatic weapons. At least I think most places.

Very difficult in some countries. Even the police in some nations, at least certain units,
are not armed.

Britain is talking about how they need knife control.
I’m serious.
Acid attacks are also a thing.

The permitted rioting and looting in dim run cities and the coup against president Trump are perfect examples of why we need the 2A.

The Chechens seem to have no problem acquiring firepower from the black markets in France.

And here I thought it was the billions we spend on defense.

Some countries do , some don't. Countries like Czech Republic, Switzerland and the former Baltic states have rather lax control on the types and platforms but do require permit and licenses. The average Euro country is usually around 1 to 1.3 murders per 100,000. In the US, whites are around 1.5-1.6. Country average is 4. How is that so? Because the murder rate for blacks in the US is considerably higher at 13.3. South America tends to lean heavy on gun control and yet they have multiple the rate that we have here in the US.

and don't forget Mexico and their strict gun control. Almost zero gun violence there.

People in Germany make a bad joke and get hauled off to jail.

The interesting thing is that they have an incredible problem with pick pockets and knife related crimes. They’ve also had multiple instances where vehicles are used as weapons in terrorist attacks.
People will be people no matter what.

Demographics. Ours are not theirs and vice versa.

Never forget that the 2A is the only thing protecting us from facisim, communism, a monarchy, or a Napoleon type

Uh. Pretty sure the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans have a lot to do with this.

It’s like a bunch of people watched Red Dawn as a kid and still believe that is how a war against a modern military force would go down.
