As a fan, how do you feel about the situational offensive play calling? Should we have reverted back to heavy run to play keep away from Costello & Leach? That would seem like a fairly conventional and reasonable in-game adjustment.

After the first quarter it was obvious Costello was going to heat up and leading into the 2nd half it was blatant that he was going to set the world on fire in the 3rd & 4th quarter. LSU was moderately successful rushing out of the shotgun even though Myles wasn’t really a threat. I wonder if lining up in the I-formation on short down and distance would have moved the chains and took some pressure off Myles...

EDIT: We averaged 3.9 yards a carry not counting sack yardage.

The goal line play calling was terrible. We miss Brady.

We dont have a dominating RB. We have 3 bit players. There was considerable fall off after CEH last year.

Hard when you average 2yds a run

That’s skewed from all the sack yardage thanks to Brennan. We actually averaged 3.9 yards a carry.

They did a poor job of getting mismatches. Seems like they should have found more ways to get Gilbert matched up with LBs or Safeties and get him quick throws in space. I hope all these analysts (who I think are actually more innovative than the actual coordinators) drill that into Ensminger and Linehan's head--make a quick pre-snap read on Gilbert. If that's not there, move on to the second read more quickly.

Linehan is supposed to be the 3rd down/red zone?

This should have been the game plan from the outset. Establish the run to take pressure off of Brennan and the defense/depleted secondary.

I think Orgeron/Ensminger would have broken TigerDroppings if we lost AND they spent a bunch of time in I-formation.

But yeah, I would have liked to see them commit more to establishing the run game. Put Tory Carter at H-back every now and then, and force State to at least respect the possibility of a long run.

The play calling didn't fit MB ability as a new qb...he seemed lost and the game seemed too fast for him at times
He seems to be a pure pocket passer and cannot scramble and throw the ball with any accuracy
this is very concerning
Considering he is now a junior it seems as though he should be further along as a QB than he showed
Hope he improves as the season moves along or it will soon be a year to forget...

There’s zero innovation or formation changes. It has Scott Linehan written all over it.

Besides red zone, the playcalling was good

Myles was a second and a half behind on every play

And that was skewed as now or our short yardage runs got the first down. Only the two goal line runs we’re unsuccessful.

Linehan came in specifically for red zone calls. Both times, run right up the middle twice and panic pass on third. Not sure why he was hired if this is what we are paying for.

It's not like that OLine was opening up huge holes for these talented RB's to run through. They had to earn everything they ran for yesterday as Miss States DLine dominated LSU's OLine. The RB's are fine, they all ran hard, but the playcalling wasn't the same, they weren't getting handoffs out of an RPO offense, but more straight up the gut shite like you saw from Ensminger before Brady. Both the shitty playcalling and the OLine failed the RB's yesterday.

They have to find a way to do the same with John Emery too. The one time Brennan had Emery open in space, he threw a poor pass that was behind him. With a good throw out in front of him, Emery had the opportunity for a big gainer.

These became an endangered species a long time ago. Brennan is mobile enough to get the job done but he lacks pocket awareness & doesn't make good pre & post snap reads.

I thought that kid Brennan was ready after serving 4 years as a understudy basically, but he still isn't ready. That was evident yesterday as he struggled the whole game, I thought I saw signs were he had caught on last season when he played in some blow out games, but I was wrong. He clearly is still learning how to be a QB and is not close to being another Joe Burrow. He holds the ball too long as well as lacks pocket awareness, he doesn't throw a WR open, you have to throw passes that they can go and get. He doesn't see the field good, he clearly doesn't go through his progressions quick enough because he locks on to the primary receiver waay too long. It's just gonna be a long season, hate to say it, but this kid will be learning all season.

I watched the replay (last qtr) of Bama vs Missouri and that true freshman Young looked more poised than Brennan and he actually stepped into his throws and had velocity and accuracy. Sad to watch our 4th year guy throw ducks, have the brook trout look, and could not scramble and hit the side of a barn.
