When you actually dig into the facts of this case, it reveals systemic problems with this police department. It also reveals questionable behavior from the deceased. Yet the prevailing opinion in this thread seems to be that she deserved to die because of her questionable behavior, while little to no blame is placed at the feet of the law enforcement body. So much focus from BLM folks has been to hold the 3 police officers accountable when the real problem is the system itself. And all the talking over each other won't amount to much meaningful, positive change.

when you dig into the facts of this case, it reveals systemic problems with no knock warrants nationwide. However, this now appears that the officers did knock and announce beforehand, which is why Taylor and her boyfriend were standing in the hallway and not asleep

I don't speak for anyone in here except myself, Breonna Taylor obviously did not deserve to die. However, it is very very clear that no murder or manslaughter charges could have ever succeeded

sad situation all around

body cams are better than one witness, but they didn't have those on

Hey all the shady stuff aside I'm sure the witness is reputable. Give me a break

There are plenty of reasons to doubt the police's accounts of things.

So for the sake of a little background on the body cam issue (which you can add to my list of grievances), Chief Conrad (the Chief in charge at the time of the shooting) was relieved of his duties early (he was set to retire) because he ordered LMPD officers to turn off their cameras while they were policing looting/rioting downtown.

That's why we also don't have body cam evidence of David McAtee's shooting.

I have an issue, especially as a taxpayer, that we pay for those cams but they are turned off at opportune times. I'm a pretty firm believer, with the exception of some times like going to the bathroom or meeting with an informant, that body cams should be on while the officer is patrolling or at the very least during an active raid.

TIL that Daniel Cameron is a black man. Impressive speech he delivered.

I heard it on the radio while driving. Had no idea his race. It was an impressive speech.

Yeah there is zero point to have them if there are no real repercussions from turning them off when heavy shite is going down.

I honestly think they started turning them off when they got heat over shooting and killing a squatter in a vacant home awhile back. That was another borderline sketchy situation.

The dirty secret with body cams is they're used more to protect the cops than they are use to hold cops accountable.

What is the point in lying to get the no knock warrant if you are gonna go there at 12:30pm then announce yourselves?

Because once the main suspect was apprehended and it was assumed she was alone the judge rescinded the no-knock and made it a knock and announce warrant?!

So I just just heard during the 12M civil case the defense couldn't find any witness for the "knocking and announcement" angle.

Is this accurate?.

Odd how the article doesn’t show a picture of AG Cameron or mention that he’s black

That's a good question. Not a lot has been released regarding that case so I don't know other than what the Taylor family asked for in the settlement beyond the money.

I do find it odd that the one upstairs neighbor heard it but the ones on the same floor did not. I've been at those apartments on a student home visit and they're not exactly thick walls.

Like I said before, I'm still floored that the boyfriend was able to walk away from this. As well as able to make a clear phone call to 911.

This confuses me too. They said both were standing in a hall. Seems like both would have taken shots. I wonder if, intentional or by circumstance, Breonna was somewhat between him and the cops. Or he bolted to cover and she froze.

Geraldo is crying on Fox News saying that poor Breonna was a hero, she was an ER EMT, she was innocent, she was sleeping in her bed....she did nothing wrong.....blah blah blah
