We should offer Ohio State to the SEC

Probably the last of the biggest money options I can reasonably see

We would end college football outside of the SEC in a power move

As CFB fan - why would you want that?

Turning CFB into NASCAR?

Shite, it's teetering on that precipous right now.

CFB needs to be national to thrive.

but @buckeyejeaux told us they needed to have a vote today or Nebraska was going to sue

Yes The Nebraska and Ohio AG's have publicly threatened to sue. Nebraska players/parents have already filed suit. Others are preparing law suits.

The Big Ten will play in October BECAUSE of these threats of legal action.

From the Sunday Detroit News -
quote:

...attorneys general from Ohio and Nebraska have raised the threat of lawsuits against the conference on behalf of their state schools, the Ohio AG citing "breach of contract"

No clue what is true anymore but there was apparently never a vote scheduled today. The vote was “always” supposed to be after the weekend.

I think anyone who loves the sport would rather have more conferences playing. I watched this weekend without B1G games

So they held another meeting to decide when they are meeting again to potentially vote? Lol

I loved the episode of the Tom Green show when he had a big announcement to announce that there would be a big announcement.

Shaun Wade from OSU opted out this morning. His father had been one of the leaders to protesting the conference and what was going on. No idea if that means he knows something or just another example of a player with first round potential opting out without having to answer questions

They didn't want the first major college football weekend to go by with them completely out of the news cycle.

The Wade family gave Ohio State plenty of time to fight this. So far, OSU has pussy-footed around the issues.

Gene Smith was key in getting Kevin Warren his job. Smith has been mostly AWOL in this battle.

Best of luck to Shaun Wade. I don't blame him a bit.

All this "OSU has screwed around" stuff is laughable. Ohio State never becomes Ohio State without its affiliation with the B1G. You don't bite the hand that feeds you and has fed you for over a century. Just because OSU is the big dog in the conference today doesn't mean they always were or always will be.

We are going to know whether there is a fall season likely be the end of this week. He has at least the same amount of information as we as posters on this website do, and we all think a decision is looming (likely today or tomorrow).

If he wanted to play for OSU in the fall, he could have waited 3 more days. He made the decision not to.

Wade will come back if the BIG 10 gets off the ground in time. This is a move to force their hand.

Maybe it is. His father was literally one of the guys at the B1G office protesting, so I could see this. He also has multiple family friends on the team so his father could have been advocating just as much for them as for his son (well not as much but you know what I mean).

Let's see what happens today/tomorrow. There were rumblings that Wade has been on his way out for a while, and it was pretty surprising to me that he opted to come back at all.

But they virtually always have been the big dog. When was their last time being bad? I’m not talking about one bad year/ just over .500. When was the last time they sucked? Every blue blood has had at least one stretch. Alabama, Texas (most of their history), ND, Michigan, PSU, FSU, USC, UCLA. All of them have had half decades where they were terrible.

There were stretches in the 80s where they were not good. There was a late 90s/early 00s stretch before Tressel where they were not good. Since 2002 they have been the most consistently good program in the country I would say.

However, I'm not sure I'm understanding what people think OSU should have done 6 weeks ago. The only team who has "latched" onto a conference other than their own is ND who was already pseudo in the ACC anyway.

The SEC isn't going to completely throw out their 10 game schedule they have set up to include OSU. Anyone who thinks you just snap your fingers and you are done is delusional. These conferences work for months every single year to make one year of conference schedules correct and logistically work out.

Does OSU only opt out for 2020 in football but expect the B1G to take them for wrestling and soccer and basketball and swimming and volleyball? ND is the only school of the big time programs to have any type of deal like that, and they are a special case. It's not something you figure out in 4 weeks IMO

Oh I didn’t expect them to join the SEC. I was more pointing to the fact that OSU is the big dog in the BIG, has been and always will be.

Interesting that this is the biggest decision they have collectively as a conference affecting many things including budget shortfalls if they don't play but they can't get together to vote.

What a fricking lack of leadership outside the athletic departments. More democrat run "cities". Nothing more.
