This tard lives the $30k millionaire life in Lake Chuck and thinks he knows what it’s like in NYC. He even thinks Brooklyn is north..

My friend lives in Brooklyn and loves it. It definitely is a great area, I like it better than NYC. But she also pays $4,500 a month in rent.

Brooklyn is incredible. I paid $2500/mo to live in a garden unit 1/1 with full backyard access of a brownstone in park slope. To act like you must pay $4k to live somewhere nice is insane.

ETA I then paid $3500 to live in a 2/2 in Chicago my place was much bigger but I paid more.

I now pay $3000 and live in an even bigger place in Philly.

But if you haven’t lived in a major city, the idea of paying even 2500 for a 1/1 is probably mind blowing

Agreed. But as I have said, you can also find plenty of 4/2, 3/1 type places that go for $3000-3500/mo. Paying $800pp really isn't any different than any other major city except for the fact that you are going to be in tight quarters sharing bathrooms compared to a decent apartment complex situation or house situation.

And in most fields, the pay doesn't make up for the higher cost of living. You are paying a premium to live there.

I get the appeal of being young and single and living in NYC. Not so much after that phase of life unless you are from there or loaded.

I lived in DC for many years and spent plenty time in NYC. I’m not some tard that doesn’t understand how much things cost. You’re not going to tell me you’re getting decent places to live for $1500 though in NYC area unless you’ve got some god awful commute.

My wife while we were dating lived on 168th st and still paid $1800 to rent a frickin room and it was the best she could find.

You’re being disingenuous to sit here and say people are living great on $80,000. It’s BS.

And screw having a roommate past the age of about 23-24.

Keep blabbing. Just did a search around prospect park and found several decent places under $1.5k. That’s a 25 min commute to downtown. That search isn’t including other places that don’t hit the market because of rental agencies or resident recommendations.

You can’t listen to these people. It’s all propaganda to substantiate their personal decisions.

One of these idiots has 5 people living in a 1100 sq ft place talking about how magical the city is. Meanwhile his nuts can’t breathe from the point his feet hit the floor in the morning because of how crowded he is.

NYC is for A certain type of person and/or stage in life. We make less money than we would elsewhere but we have a higher standard of living in Lake Charles.

ETA: The word you're looking for would be justify, not substantiate.

What does a felon do in a big city? Are you limited to manual labor jobs?

I know the cost of living comparison said we'd need to make like 385k to have a comparable standard of living in Manhattan. My wife and I are in our 40s and living in NYC has zero appeal to me anymore.

I don't remember exactly but I think we paid $2100 for an apartment there 20 years ago. That might not be exactly what it was but fairly close.

You’re in a thread asking people that lived in NYC about their experience, yet you’ve never lived in NYC. You appear to be the only one in here trying to justify your miserable life.
