The 996 WILL have its day in the spotlight godammit!!!
Yeah, it is still a Porsche but it will never catch up to the 993 or 997 that bracket it. The 996 Turbo does have an extremely good engine to mod. Even the GT3 is a red-headed stepchild.

There’s people who still wear watches?

Thinking about selling my TT and going with a black ss because the gold scratches easily so I have an aftermarket band to limit that and it looks ok but not great. Bad idea? What black ss model would you go with?
Do it IF you like the all SS better. If not I would personally put it on a Rubber B or Everest rubber strap using the original clasp IF I want to save the bracelet. Personally I don't save my watches outside some that don't get worn on days they might get trashed. Particularly gold watches polish up nicely and I do 90% of that at home with a Cape Cod cloth. Note these work fine on yellow or white gold, sometimes with pink or rose gold you have to polish the entire watch/band since the copper often causes it to age colorwise and so you know that oxidized layer off one spot and it shows the original color.

If you can get one from an AD, is it worth the time to flip it if you don't want it for a personal collection?
As part of the hobby, I generally say yes. But at the time you get the call from the AD you have to make a quick decision on the current FMV and how long you are willing to wait to get full FMV. I don't know what the black SS subs will do but with tax it might not be worth it by the time you get one. That being said if I could be 100 of the new Kermits next week I would make it happen because I am sure I could make 400k on them over 6 months. Obviously that is fantasy like buying gold bullion for 60% of spot but the Kermit would almost definitely be worth the time, the rest of the new ones I would have to see it play out a little with pricing.
Oh one word of caution don't let the AD know you are going to flip it because they likely will not sell to you, if they figure it out after the sale they will likely never sell you a wait list Rolex ever again. Do NOT put pictures on the web trying to sell it that show info that can be traced to you. No full serial and no documents that identify the retailer.

Obtuse did I blow my money...
Outside of the whole KS dangers no. I quite like the watch and it has a great movement for the price. The only thing I would say is avoid manual winding of the SW-200 any more than you have to. Not an issue if you wear it enough to keep it wound and I would do the gentle shake to start it and just wear it. Not getting too granular the Sellita has some parts in the manual wind system that are not as robust as the ETA 2824 they are a near clone of. It has to do with the shape of the gears. It is not a guarantee it will ever fail but I would just avoid it by wearing it, putting it on a winder or shaking to start, better safe than sorry.
The only thing I don't personally like is that Engineer bracelet. I have a very similar one on a watch Hexa made for the WUS dive watch sub-forum. I find them far too chunky because they don't taper and while the clasp is great it too is chunky. Lots of people LOVE them I am not a fan. Even given that I thought hard about getting one of the light blue or grey ones since I love the 1970s rainbow diver vibe but I decided I would just wait and try to pick up one someone eventually flips.

I regret that I have only 1 upvote to give.
I watched a guy plunk down $13,500 cash for a Rolex Submariner at the Helen Brett Jewelry show in Nola back in 1986, and I was in awe...
The size of the housing might still be a little big for me, so I will just continue on with my current iphone to tell me what time it is.

There’s always at least one “Use your phone for a clock” dumb arse in the watch threads. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Rolex has been killing it in sales this year.

I recently bought a new no date steel Submariner. I love it. I’m not a watch guy and I haven’t worn a watch in years and years. I only have 1 other piece of jewelry I wear and thats my wedding ring. I bought it for me as a reward and symbol of accomplishments. I didn’t buy it to impress others. Every time I put it on, I think “f**k yeah. You earned this.” Feels good man. Highly recommend if you have the means.

Me too but at the early 80's prices (which were already stupid then). I have a receipt from when my Dad bought a Sub for less than $500 in the early 70s. Same watch. Same materials.
In the early 70's my father made $11,000 a year and fed a family of 4 with it. $500 would have been almost 5% of his gross pay for the year.

Yeah, I talked to one of their US execs a few weeks ago and he said that it has been crazy this year.

I was just curious. I have frequently wondered how so many of these watches get to the gray market so quickly. Thanks for responding.

And there is nothing wrong with that. Of course, that doesn't stop the "just use your phone" or "I can't believe someone would be so stupid to pay that for a watch" posts in these threads. If you have the means and can purchase it as a reward to yourself without compromising the really important finances, then have at it!
The irony is the "I can't believe you would pay that" guys also have their own status symbol/personal reward items. It's just not a watch. I'm sure the OT and outdoor board is littered with baws who proudly tout their $50k plus F-150 King Ranch or Platinum truck when, in reality, just like a $9k watch, they don't NEED that expensive of a truck for any practical purposes. Plus, unlike a Rolex Sub, that truck is going to vastly depreciate the moment it is driven off the lot and will be essentially inoperable in 15-20 years.
Personally, I don't think anyone "needs" a $60k pickup truck or a $4k gun. But, if that item represents a sense of pride or accomplishment for them, then that is great!
Some, many without the means to do so, will buy unreasonably expensive brand name items SOLELY to impress others. Those people are never going to be satisfied because their self worth comes from the opinion of others. Get something nice, whatever it is, because it makes YOU feel proud. The hell with what everyone else thinks.

Go to Timezone website and look at the TZ Showcase subforum for pre-owned Rolexes for sale. If there is one you like, check up on the seller on a site called "Good Guys."
