We fight the bad guys. Sometimes we hang out with some shady characters in war time to achieve a goal but we’re the good guys. We knew Germany had a bad attitude from WW1 and was causing their mischief. Bad hombres those Nazis.

You should study the tactics the Nazi's used to acquire power pre-WWII then we can continue the discussion.

I do know the tactics. Give me some specific examples, because the blatant demonization of Jews was utterly explicit, as the notion that Jews were to be run out of German society was in Hitler’s 25-point plan unveiled in 1920.

New York banking ties with London were a large part of why we were with the British in WWI.

What

Do you think “every single” nazi was bad? You don’t think there were a plethora of ordinary men and women that simply got caught up in something that if they don’t participate, they actively become the the victim?

You should do some reading. “Ordinary men, Reserve police battalion 101” is a good start. Shows how ordinary men plucked right off the street can be transformed into mass murdering cogs in a machine.

Civilization is a thin veil. Men are animals. Given the opportunity, each and every one of us are more than willing to revert back to our animalistic instincts in order to save our own hide.

If Ordered to push 1 of 2 buttons, one button instantly kills your mother infront of your eyes, the other button kills 10 random people you have never met. If you don’t push the button, you get killed.

Guess what you’re going to choose? You just became a mass murderer to save your mother.

Nice try at rewriting history. Will this be the talking point du jour?

Yes, as I indicated in my original post. And, the Nazis silenced dissenting speech through intimidation, rioting and propaganda. Do you not agree?

I know, right?
Nothing says freedom like secret police that assassinate dissenters and their families. What country wouldn't welcome that type of freedom from a foreign invader?

Listen Linda, I didn't say I agreed with them, only passing along their point of view. Never said it was correct.

Germans and pro-Nazi party in the U.S.... especially in NY were pretty connected to the power players in U.S. government. There was tremendous pressure on us to stay out of it, not support the UK, France, etc...

Had Germany not sunk the Lusitania we might not have every gotten involved. Not sure how many people understand that most Americans wanted nothing to do with WW2.

Wow. You need a history lesson.

The Germans bombed Pearl Harbor which brought us into WWII.

They did, after they took power, but if we are speaking of how political correctness lead to their rise, then we would be speaking of the 20's, and the Weimar constitution explicitly forbid censorship. I'm skeptical of applying a current notion of "political correctness" to the rise of the Nazi party, as many aspects of the Nazi's had precursors in German society at large. Their appeals to "Blood and Soil" nationalism were developed from German Romantic Nationalism that developed during the Napoleonic Wars, specifically by people like Johann Fichte, among others (and expressed famously by people like Wagner). Central Europe had a strong history of explicit antisemitism, and Lebensraum was developed during the fin de siecle, and was part of the larger project of Imperial Germany. I'm specifically disputing that political correctness had anything to do with the rise of the Nazis. I don't find support for that notion in particular.

You can disagree with Crazy4LSU but never accuse the guy of not reading history. He’s legitimately knowledgeable and contributes a lot to history threads.

That’s because you’re using the modern day use age and understanding of “politically correct”.

What we see as “politically correct” and what the nazis saw as “politically correct” aren’t the same, baw.

Just like today, where the SJW act like fascist towards any opinion they deem “incorrect”, as did the nazis.
