Agreed, he’s weighing us down

Wouldn’t a Jrue for Turner package make more sense?
People here need to go check the Indy fan base’s opinions on Turner. It’s not pretty. I think he’s a bit rigid laterally and tends to lumber in transition. Pacer opponents were only 0.5 pts worse offensively when he was off the court compared to someone like Rudy where the Jazz’s opponents were 6 pts worse offensively with Rudy on the bench.

What about a Jrue trade with another name from the list, CJ McCollum.
Something like Jrue and a smaller piece (either Melli or Miller) for CJ and Zach Collins.
Jrue would pair well with Dame, and CJ could operate as the starting PG here. CJ is in the 71st percentile as a pick and roll guard. To give an idea of what that means, Devin Booker and Lou Williams are just below him. Rose, Dragic, and Mitchell are some names just above him. Jrue comes in at the 36th percentile.
Collins would give you a stretch big that could start at the 5.

CJ is a better fit next to Ball. Not saying I would or wouldn’t do either deal.

How would Trae Young look in a Pelicans uniform? Ok that’s super far fetched.
(Like I traded Jrue and Lonzo on 2k for Trae type of thing)
But if we’re able to get a 3rd star (this off-season) I would hope Beal is the target. I definitely think he could be the voice in the locker room and we need.
Beal-Ingram-Williamson combo would give the league nightmares. I’d be willing to pay close to Kings ransom.
None of the other players listed are the extreme needle movers I seek to pair with our boys. I may be sleeping in VO.

I agree that hit fits well next to Ball offensively. Especially if Ball continues to improve his 3pt%. This would be a nuclear option of saying we're just gonna outscore everyone, because we won't be stopping anyone lol. If the stars aligned and we got D'antoni then this would be a viable idea. Any other direction Griffen takes us and I don't think it's a long term fit.

I think there is a chance Gobert Is on the block this summer too due to the conflict with Mitchell and other things. I hate everything about Rudy, but Favors showed Zion can function with a traditional center. I’m curious if he became available whether Griff would show interest.

People have some polarized views on Beal around here, but I’m with you, I think he is one of the better options to cash in some chips for out of the people that are realistically available. He’s coming into his peak, seems hungry to win, has some fire and a chip on his shoulder, and he offers us a good balance in our core.
He compliments both guys pretty well and he could make our trio one of the most formidable in the league for the next half decade.
I wouldn’t be opposed if Griffin went that direction.

I would value Beal over CJ, but I think it would be easier to get CJ.

I think the majority of the defensive issues on the team are because of the turnovers that the team had. If we had a guard that could effectively run a half court offense, then turnovers should drastically decrease.

I also think he would probably cost less and I think unlike Washington, Portland would potentially just do a straight up Jrue for CJ trade(where we might actually be able to get a little bit on top)...If that is the route Griffin would be willing to go.
My other realistic move at one point was running it back except with Favors getting replaced by Turner(a player we apparently made contacts about last offseason). With how things are going in Indiana, I’m not sure they will move him though, might want to see if the next coach can pull something off with the current group, IDK.

I cant judge the pieces on defense yet bc of Gentry's lack of devotion to that side of the ball.
The starting lineup, Hart and Hayes to a lesser extent has defensive, individual abilities and attributes that should of translated to a cohesive defensive scheme, one that should have been at least Top 15 in defensive efficiency.
To those that want a CJ trade... We obviously dont have a defensive minded team or a Top 8 defense. CJ does nothing to further that cause and we need length. Cj is a good 6th man but not a starter on a championship contender. There is a reason Portland fans would happily agree to a trade proposal of Jrue for CJ offer. CJ and Dame cant guard anybody worth a damn on the peremiter. KCP found his groove again in the Lakers series and he shouldnt have but for that backcourt.

Gotta give Lonzo another year or at least to the break. Made great strides shooting the ball and have to see if the new coach can bring more discipline and confidence to his game. Plus, Lonzo wont command a max contract even with a decent year which is gonna be necessary once Ingram and assumedly Zion get theirs.

You don’t have to have a top 8 defense to make noise in the playoffs. The Trail Blazers were able to make it to the Western Conference Finals last season and their defense was ranked 16th for the season. They were 6th in defense the previous season when McCollum started 81 games for them. 6’3” is a decent size for a PG

Yeah but they had guys like Aminu and Harkless helping to cover up. If you have Ingram and CJ and no Jrue, Zion will need time become a good defender for that core to work. I might feel better about it if I trusted Lonzo’s defense more, but I don’t.

McCollum is not the answer at the 2 guard position. Trent would be a better fit and land more useful pieces in a deal (Whiteside (salary matching), Collins+ 1/2 1st rd picks).
Keep Lonzo. Trade Jrue for another young, Ingram/ready to breakout piece, plus picks and useful players who have Trade value or can be evaluated for core purposes. Thats the best outcome when considering a trade for Jrue.
Plus, Trent is a former Dukie to keep that theme going... lol.
And TigerinATL knows exactly what Im talking about. Aminu and Harkless masked the deficiencies of that backcourt. Big losses for them. If they had them, probably would have made Lakers series more competitive and won it.

Naysayers need to go look at Trent's production as of late. 6'6 guard who wants to win DPOY and is on our timeline, only 21 yrs old. Shooting well beyond 3pt line and has a scrap mentality which this team sorely needs. More importantly, get his Bird Rights and can keep core intact.

Isn't Whiteside a UFA?

How does this help with our awful offense though?
Lonzo is not the answer as a full time facilitator, the Pels need a player that can do that. Trent is a good player, but he’s more of a JJ replacement, rather than a facilitator that the Pels need if they are trading Jrue, IMO.
