What is it like living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a middle aged & class person?

Miserable? Boring? Easy going? Everyone either poor or a retiree? Do the schools suck?

Where you coming from? Need to figure out your frame of reference.

I grew up on the Gulf Coast. I much prefer Louisiana.

I loved it. I used to play golf, go to the dragstrip and beat up my car, go to the beach, go to the casino, go up to Hattiesburg for athletic events, and probably other stuff I don't remember.
The bars were open 24/7 back then, and I don't think that's changed. Tinder has probably turned them into sausage festivals, but that's everywhere.
I am from New Orleans and would pick Gulfport or Biloxi over that city if you forced me to choose one place to live.
ETA: Very easy-going. The lack of pretentious people was refreshing.

I would think you could live anywhere as a class person and really enjoy it.

I’ve always liked the Mississippi gulf coast. Definitely seems like the place to live if you’re going to live in Mississippi.

It’s nice. Live in a place like Ocean Springs and you’ll forget you are even in Mississippi.

Schools are really good in the coastal counties.
Beach areas are not Florida quality obviously but a day at the beach can be had. Nice restaurant options, plenty of golf courses. Inshore Fishing sucks but there is a ton of water recreation options.

You associate this as inhabiting?

Good friend has a place in Bay St. Louis. Mostly retirees, quiet, plenty to do, and real estate is pretty inexpensive. Supposedly, the schools are very good.

You single? There are some pretty loving women in that part of the world. I'd put OS up there with any "small" coast town from brownsville to the everglades
It's also dirt cheap comparatively speaking to other coastal areas

Do you like hanging out at casinos as part of your social calendar?
Ocean Springs is really nice and offers a bit more of the small town feel and walk-about bars/restaurants. BSL does too to a lesser degree.

What is your point of reference? 30 miles from the Chandeleur Islands and some of the best inshore fishing in the world.
ETA: I get is Chandeleur is in Louisiana, but your closest launch point to get there is Mississippi.

What are the career options around there?

That's a haul in a boat to inshore fish. I think most people associate that with fishing the bay systems along the coast. And he's right, the bays along the MS coast are pretty tough fishing for most of the year.

Moved over here from Baton Rouge, and I love it here. I don’t fear getting mugged anymore

Ocean Springs is actually pretty solid. Would not mind living there.
