OSU was the second best team. I think we beat them like we did Bama, Auburn and Florida.

Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers I guess.

I agree they probably matchup with with us a little better in the physical aspects of the game primarily the trenches.
Having said that, I always thought Clemson would beat them for the same season I think we would have beat them — overall team speed. Clemson was a little better and more athletic at several key positions.
When they allowed Trevor Lawrence to run through the entire defense for that long TD gallop it confirmed it

I think LSU beats Ohio State by about the same margin they beat Clemson.
Remember, those teams were evenly matched, with Ohio State a little better and Clemson a little more savvy.
I think Ohio State gives us a better competitive game, but- remember, the final score in the Clemson game wasn't indicative of the talent disparity. They took a lot of advantage of early field position. I can't predict Ohio State pins us deep every drive in the 1st quarter. Once we got out of that hole, we smoked them.
shite came to a head with that game, with the defense both injured, and coasting due to the unstoppable offense.
Ask UGA and Oklahoma if we were crappy on D.

Your defense was not a typical LSU defense last year and Ryan Day would have drawn up a good game plan.

Honestly I think OSU would have been a slightly tougher game than Clemson. Clemson’s defense used some smoke and mirrors to throw us off our game early, but then the talent disparity between our weapons and their secondary took over once we figured out what they were doing. I think Ohio State had the talent to make those 1-on-1 matchups more difficult. I still think we would have moved the ball on them, just think they would have been a little tougher throughout the game than Clemson.
OTOH, that’s assuming they were able to move the ball on offense. Ultimately I think the outcome would have been pretty similar. I will say that I felt a lot better about playing Clemson than OSU. Say what you want about OSU’s competition in the Big 10 - it’s a hell of a lot better than the ACC.

Got that backwards. Nobody was able to touch him during the regular season. He would have competed well with LSU's receivers. Obviously, NFL thought he was 3rd best player last year. I think no receiver gained more than 50 yards on him the whole season and I know he didn't have one penalty.

Losing Shaun Wade on a questionable call where Lawrence ducked his head was a huge break for Clemson.

Peaking at the right time is huge in any sport at any level. LSU's defense played very good football in 3 post-season games against elite competition. The offense was simply transcendent in those 3 games. There's a fair argument that tOSU would have been a slightly tougher match-up than Clemson but I just can't see a big gap either way. The way LSU was playing in the post-season they would have smoked anybody.

Patterson went 18/43 that day. That is fricking atrocious.

Of course it counts, but Okudah is way better than Terrell. Okudah was the 3rd pick of the whole draft.
Young is a beast no matter how you put it. His stats dipped in the last few because he was double teamed and had plays run away from him. Even still, he affected the game in numerous ways and applied pressure. Deculus was the worst player on the offense last season and I assure you that the #2 pick of the NFL draft would be able to expose him.

Final score would have been 56-21

I think his draft stock would have suffered had he been forced to face off with our three headed dragon of a receiver corps

Burrow would have destroyed them. It would have been converted into a great Hallmark movie in about 20yrs when Burrow retires from the NFL and would probably become the generational motivation movie like Rudy was in the 90s.

Ohio State had some dudes last year. Good god on a golf cart they had some talent. I don't think there was a team in the country that was going to beat LSU in the playoffs. The offense and defense were both in the zone. They were executing at a level I have never seen. But Ohio State would've made it interesting.

Glad we didn’t play them . All I’m going to say

That would have been a 46 - 24 type game.
