Leave them towards front doors. Not gestapo level but try to do it most times.

I generally take them off at the mud room entryway. We have a bench, coat rack, drawers for shoes. But I’m not hardcore. I regularly walk through my house with shoes on and I don’t have some atrocious sign up front warning guest ‘No Shoes’. For dinner parties I don’t have a buncha baws sliding around on my hardwoods in rainbow dress socks like a buncha soi Bois.

Um... unless they are dirty from working in the yard or whatever, why wouldn't I wear my shoes in the house?

There's a group discussion happening on Evangeline Thruway as we speak.

I basically walk to and from my front door to my master closet and that's it. I'm not a shoe nazi, but it's for sure pretty gross when you consider where the average shoe has been.

Hardwood and tile is not a big deal IMO, as it's easy to clean. Shoes on carpet is pretty disgusting tho. Think of all the gum, piss, mud and shite that's getting squished into those carpet fibers.

I will however be a nazi when it comes to my kids play mat. I have young kids that are still prone to roll around on the mat and it's not too uncommon for them to lick or eat something off their mat either. My dad just goes trampling over their mat in muddy shoes the other day and I was like wtf man? Did it not occur to you your grandsons play on this thing. Would it kill you to walk 2 extra steps to go around it?

Take off shoes in the garage or mud room and put on my house shoes. We don’t tell guests to take off their shoes unless they’re close friends or family and then we tel them to take them off before going on the rug in the living room.

Also, side topic, shoes on couch is absolutely unacceptable. If it's possible my face can come into contact with it, then it should be a shoe-free zone.

For family members, shoes are worn inside or you can walk around without them. Guests leave the shoes on.

Take them off more as a matter of comfort than anything else. Not sure I would ever ask someone to take their shoes off when coming in my house.

So your guests walk around in their sock feet or barefoot? 75 year old grampa is doing that?

Never knew it was common to remove shoes until I moved out west.

I still wear them motherfrickers inside.
