RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver told 8News on Friday that he plans to mandate coronavirus vaccinations for Virginians once one is made available to the public.

Virginia state law gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to mandate immediate immunizations during a public health crisis if a vaccine is available. Health officials say an immunization could be released as early as 2021.

Dr. Oliver says that, as long as he is still the Health Commissioner, he intends to mandate the coronavirus vaccine.

“It is killing people now, we don’t have a treatment for it and if we develop a vaccine that can prevent it from spreading in the community we will save hundreds and hundreds of lives,” Oliver said.

Under state law, only people with a medical exemption could refuse the mandate.

The Virginia General Assembly is considering a bill during an ongoing special session that would allow people with religious opposition to opt-out of the requirement.
The bill needs to clear a committee in the House of Delegates before the full chamber could vote on it.

Oliver says he strongly opposes the bill. He doesn’t know what the punishment would be for non-compliance but expects that most people will respond well to the mandate.

Meanwhile, a new poll suggests more than one in three Americans aren’t interested in getting a coronavirus vaccine. Even though health officials say it will be safe, some have raised concerns about the speed of development.

I doubt that is an elected position, so it's safe to say he won't have any problem pushing this bullshite onto the citizens living in VA.

Someone needs to go ahead and get the ball rolling on the courts to try and stop this shite. And I'm not some anti-vaxxer but job either. But I can guarantee that myself or anyone in my household will be at the front of the line for the COVID vaccine. If it is released to the public next year, at any point, it will be, by far, the fastest vaccine engineered for a specific virus in human history to be released. From what I've read, they have relaxed some standards for clinical trials to get this thing in the fast lane. Now, whether that's true or not, well, who knows. I would hope the people working on it wouldn't cut corners to maximize profits, or to just be the first to market to go down in history as the first successful coronavirus vaccine in human history. But we have all seen it before where big pharma and/or doctors put profits above patients, so I'm a little skeptical of just giving them my arm to put their new drug in me.

Now to go along with that...if say, 100 million people receive the vaccine and it turns out to be relatively effective and safe for people after being observed for around 2 years (I know that's an arbitrary number, but that just seems like a good cut off, personally, for peace of mind) then yeah, I'll get it if required. Say that I need it to continue working and my kids need it to remain in school, yes, we will get it. But, only after it's been proven effective and safe on a much larger scale than some special trial that was pushed through by the FDA due to some sort of political pressure. If that's the case, I'll just have to do without (just like I've done to this point). This bug just is not as scary enough, in my opinion, to warrant a state or nationwide mandate on a vaccine that may not have had the best guidelines to go by in getting it to market.

I don't think hospitals & Dr's understand the distrust they have created with all of this propaganda.

It really gives you some perspective when you realize dying of COVID means you probably had a great long life.

Has this ever been challenged by anyone? If so, I'd like to read about it. If not, I could see this being challenged and struck down by the courts. This seems like a huge overreach of authority.

In other words, you’re gonna get it. They plan to force it through by these means. No vaccine, no work. No vaccine, no school. No vaccine, well, sorry can’t fix your broken leg, good luck.

Say no to the vaccine, they’re going to attempt to make your life difficult. Many people will break down.

How does “no vaccine, no work” fly when a lot of jobs are now telecommuting?

It works when you have someone in the health care field who is exposed to stuff regularly.

Less so when a good chunk of the population is now telecommuting specifically BECAUSE of the bullshite caused by all this.
