According to reports, the Bugatti Chiron was among a group of cars stuck behind the motorhome along with a an impatient driver of a Porsche 911 GTS. As the multi-million dollar hypercar committed to passing the traffic, the Porsche 911 pulled out in front of the Chiron and began to pass as well. While the details aren't clear, it appears that the Bugatti may have rear-ended the Porsche causing the 911 to lose control and hit the motorhome and a Mercedes-Benz station wagon. The Bugatti Chiron, which cost about $3 million brand new, only suffered relatively minor damage to its nose and hood, while the 911 GTS is likely totaled to the heavy damage it suffered.

They say nothing bad ever happens to the man who owns a French car. It just happens again.

That’s a lot of expensive cars in one stretch of road.

He shouldn’t have pulled out in front of me.

How long before S and Paul Allen start a circle jerk about their bellboy and butler getting into a wreck?

Bugatti is a strange animal regarding nationality. It started in Molsheim, Alsace which at the time (early 1900s) the city was actually in Germany. It died off in the '50s and the name rights were bought in the late '80s and production started back up in Modena Italy (same region as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Ducati). Then about 20 years ago the VW Group (German) bought them and moved production back to Molsheim which is now in France. Ettore Bugatti (the founder) was Italian.

That Bugatti in the first photo goes for about 2.3 million. The guys at the Denham Springs collision center should be able to handle it.

A French mechanic.

"Despite being born in Italy, Bugatti established his automobile company, Automobiles E. Bugatti, in 1909 in the then German town of Molsheim in the Alsace region of what is now France."
"The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine two-seater sports car developed and manufactured in Molsheim, France by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.."
Bugatti is owned by VW (German) but the division is based in France and the cars are made there. Considering that the original Bugatti was formed in an area that was German at the time and is now owned by a German company, I'd say Bugatti is more German than Italian. But since they are designed and built in France, that makes Bugatti French.

Semantics. Its design and craftsmanship has always been Italian. Kind of like a French chef cooking a Belgian waffle.
