The deal will be called the Abraham accord, U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said at the same White House event. President Trump joked he wanted to call the deal the Donald J. Trump accord but that the news media wouldn’t understand.

From the WSJ article that was just posted.

Obligatory...

I never noticed how much Obama had a "Just STFU" look on his face afterward."

Apparently.

I thought it was an open secret it was happening but that there was an official denial by both sides due to politics in KSA.

At least they recognized it was a joke when trolling themselves.

UAE striking a deal for diplomatic ties could be a way of normalizing relations between Saudi and Israel officially down the line, using UAE to soften the hardline “We don’t recognize Israel!” stance.
Bingo.

UAE is hardly a Saudi client state, but it would not be the first time that the UAE tested the waters for the Saudis on something.

UAE and the Saudis have been working jointly to defeat the Houthi rebels (Iranian backed) in Yemen for years. They are a lot closer than many realize.

Um, when did UAE and Israel ever fight with one another? So a corrupt Sunni Gulf oil kingdom makes peace with Israel? How does that help America? Will it bring US soldiers home from Syria? Will it stop billions going to Israel every year, money that should stay her in the US? Will it stop home demolitions of Palestinian homes? Will it end the more than 50 year old illegal occupation of Palestine?

Now get a peace treaty between Israel and Syria and Iran and then I will be impressed.

They are not. The UAE is also fighting the Hadi government over the island of Socotra, and has backed the STC to take over Aden. The Houthis still control the area by the Red Sea, and can occasionally do cross-border raids into the KSA itself. It is the essence of a quagmire that has been poorly executed by the coalition.

The vast majority of Yemenis are Houthi supporters. The Saudis have waged a horrendous campaign of massacring and starving the Yemeni people, and STILL, they have failed, because the vast majority of Yemenis support the Houthis. You are one of these people who thinks Saudi Arabia is more humane than Iran.

HUGE breakthrough today! Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends, Israel and the United Arab Emirates!

Excellent. I do not know how anyone will be upset by this, but I imagine there are a few posters and several MSM outlets that will try to change my mind, but it won't work.

I wonder if Ivanka helped Jared come up with that part?
