If the SEC pulls off this fall season successfully then the BIG will be forced to play in the spring, they'd be out of excuses. And maybe that happens with fans, who knows?

I think if anything, you end up getting 3-4 "exhibition" type games, in conjunction with spring practices.

Schools, I don't think, can pull off running their entire athletic department program in the spring. And, considering march madness and most spring sports already got the boot once, they are going to be fully supported in 2021.

Ultimately a calculator will decide this for NEB. Stay in the Big 10 but lose out on this year's revenue, or get paid this year, but have lower revenues going forward in the Big 12?

So much egg on B1G face if it happens.

They thought Missouri would jump at a chance to B1G and the junior membership. They said nope, Nubs jumped head over heels for it. b1g save face with Nubs being AAU university.

Nubs go into big10 as an AAU member, then get stripped immediately, meaning they are only member of big10 who are not an AAU university. LOL

AAU means a ton to B1G.

There’s clearly a cultural difference here, between Nebraska and Iowa.

Where were the early settlers in Iowa from? Where in Europe?

I think they’re insecure. Which is why they value it, money aside.

Interesting - I wouldn’t expect them to have the same cultural influence.

Players need time to heal up for the fall, and coaches use that period for recruiting. The networks also have plans to cover other sports during that period - March Madness for example.

The spring season is also shorter, so you would need to play games into the summer, like they do in baseball.

I don’t think it’s possible to play in the spring.

First it was unhappiness with the Big 12. Now it's unhappiness with the Big Ten. Maybe the problem isn't the conferences, the problem is Nebraska.

If that were the case then why’d Colorado, A&M and Missouri also leave? It was definitely not a Nebraska problem it was a LHN problem. That’s total garbage imagine if Alabama got their own channel and the SECN did not exist? It’s unfair for the rest of us.

I know Nebraska fans hate it and want out, but the reason you went to the Big 10 is still there and isn’t changing longer term - money. Whatever you miss out on this year will be made up within a few years of media rights, unfortunately.

Fans & players deserve to be livid. Many of Big 10 teams haven’t missed a season since the 1800’s. They played during World Wars, the Spanish Flu, Great Depression, but now they can’t ?

This might be the beginning of the end of the Big 10 conference.

PAC-12 is already irrelevant.

I agree with the sentiment of changing the name of the top football conferences to the ‘Power 3’.

In the end money talks and the Big 10 revenue distribution is much better than the Big 12. They're not throwing years of $$ away even though the Big 12 is a better fit for them.

If NU did go back to the Big12 then money would not be as big of an issue it looks (assuming there is no penalty for leaving the Big10). Yes the Big10 is paying > $50million to NU right now, but that will decrease when Maryland and Rutgers become full members. Plus how much will NU get if the Big10 doesn't have football and this fall and only has a partial mBB season? It is very possible that NU could lose $20-$40 million. The Big12 pays just under $40 million per school and the schools get to keep their 3rd tier media rights. OU is getting $7 million per year for its 3rd tier media rights. Nebraska could get a similar figure for its 3rd tier media rights. So the $$$ difference would be less $10 million per year they would lose. The Big12 has 5 seasons (including this one) left on its media rights deal. The Big12 with NU would likely get an increase in its next deal which would mean that NU would only be losing $5 million per year once 3rd tier rights are factored in. For $5 million per year they are better off in the Big12.

However with all that being said, I think that nothing will happen except for NU complaining because there isn't enough time for the lawyers to get together and work something out if NU actually decided to go back to the Big12.

If they could Texas to equal revenue share the Big 12 would be right back in business and might be able to pull a team like Colorado back.

If I remember correctly Nebraska routinely voted against equal revenue sharing. They were considered “a have” not “a have not.”

No chance, they have wanted to be in pac12 for a long time.

They feel they have a lot more in common with pac12 schools than big12/big/etc. They are a huge liberal school, and felt they were stuck with hayseeds in big12.

It's been their goal to be in pac12, and no cares about sports relevancy, just as long as they get to cuddle with other liberal colleges.

Their fans are horrible, like most Liberals, throwing piss filled balloons, frozen or thawed was their specialty.

Along with double cell batteries and slashing tires if you had away team license plates. Colorado fans used to be the scum of the earth when they were in the BXII
