I personally hate it. I fell in love with football because it was unlike anything we have (structure) in the states.

Total bullshite. Hope players and managers refuse to play.

Jose has already been sacked from Spurs over refusing to take players onto thepitch because of the Super League decision.
It's going to be really damn interesting how this all plays out.

Any thoughts on this European super league that was announced yesterday?
Don't really have any thoughts one way or the other. It'll either work and be huge or it won't and will fall apart in a few years.
Only part I vehemently disagree with is the talk of banning players from domestic and international competitions.

If I had a vote, I'd probably vote to keep the current UCL format... That said, I'd be lying if I said I was overly outraged...
But I guess my view of professional sports is more cynical... and greed has long taken over European soccer (and all sports), this is just the next step...
The creation of the Premier League... The creation of the Champions League (at one time, the European cup was champions ONLY... top 4 is an arbitrary measure for merit)... State owned clubs... £100mm + dollar players... £300k/wk contracts... £40mm agent fees for player transfers...
I have more contempt for the way VAR is implemented and think it has done more to ruin my enjoyment of the sport than this will... I may be proven wrong..

Is anyone having trouble with VAR outside of England? It's working fine in Germany and MLS, but those are really the only 3 leagues I watch.

I'm not sure.. I honestly don't watch those leagues very closely at all... But it seems like there is controversy is every single EPL match I watch..

I think its a negotiation tactic, but could still come true. They clearly wanted a bigger share of the CL revenue, and maybe some guarantees. Weren't getting it. The talk and threats have gone on. Obviously the CL new format was set to be announced so they announced the super league a day ahead. Someone has called the big clubs bluff.
Now, we'll see where it goes from here. Someone will cave in a certain way. But how long and how dicey does it get? Do the supporters protests undermine the big clubs position?
But the CL and domestic tv deals are worth a LOT less without the big clubs. Ain't no one going to watch Norwich vs. Burnley next year.
And while I don't like the Liverpool was a ringleader of this, I do think, if its happening, you had better be a part of it than outside of it. And make no mistake, it was happening in some way.

Same, I remember being a noob and getting upset that matches would end in ties.
I hate this change. The idea that this super league could change the way teams prioritize domestics leagues/titles is sickening.

Oh the writing has been on the wall for awhile. But I’m no less disappointed that it’s finally come to fruition. There will be very little reason to watch anything anymore, unless Liverpool are competing for the title.

C'mon, the EPL playoffs will make for compelling viewing

Christ. You know it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

Long time no stop in. Just dropping by to say “frick” after that draw.

It's like there is no air allowed to be in our sails as fans this season.
Every time something good happens or we feel momentum, another break happens.
