from Klopp..

“Football is not like riding a bike. You can lose something in pre-season and it takes time to all come together again. We can do better, we will do better.”

Sounds about right, I never expect the team to look super sharp in MW1 honestly... Happy to have 3 points, especially against a pretty tough draw in the first game of the season.

The next two are gonna be tough (and are only on Peacock, soo F U NBC)

If you have Cox cable as your provider and have contour TV essential or a higher tier plan you can get peacock premium app on your box for free. That's where premier league games will be shown that aren't on NBCSN or NBC. Save you 4.99 a month.

Not a big deal, but since I caught it on Twitter I figured I'd post... We've sent LB Tony Gallacher out on loan to Toronto FC

Gomez and TAA on the right side could be really rough this season.

Gomez looks like a shell of what he once was.

we basing that off one match after he played 180 minutes for England?

No hot takes here. His lack of concentration and anticipation once or twice a match is concerning. Matip is injury prone and has limitations but he is a calming presence next to VVD.

And all of last season basically.

Am I off base here? Defense has been nowhere near what it was with Matip next to VvD.

I mean yeah that's fair I guess... Idk,I just still don't have a lot of faith in Matip to stay healthy and be solid over the course of a full season

Zonal marking (tAthletic) has a good article on how both teams pressed each other on Saturday.

No. I think Gomez has long been overrated by our fan base because he was dirt cheap and athletic. He offers positional versatility in a pinch, but that's probably his best quality. Not an aerial threat, can't pick a pass, out of position too much. I think it impacts Virg when he's on the pitch too. He plays more freely next to Matip

I disagree.. I think by and large he's been solid when in the starting lineup (Ive seen stats that show we are at our best when he partners VVD) over the past couple of years... I think its mainly receny bias at the moment, going against him. I dont disagree that he is still relatively young and will make mistakes. He has great recovery speed and is very good on the ball, as well...

I don't have an issue with Gomez/Matip being CB #2 a/b... I think Joel has good attributes when healthy, as well..

Rumors swirling this morning that Brewster is off to Sheffield United for £25mm (buy back included supposedly).

I'm totally okay with that if it gives us money to bring in someone more ready to step in and the versatility to play wide (Sarr?).

I would hope the buyback (if included) is sensible enough that if he proves himself, we can bring him back to the team...

Thiago will sign a four-year deal with #LFC. Fee now agreed with Bayern Munich: £20m guaranteed paid over the life of the contract. An additional £5m through winning the PL/UCL, progression in Europe as long as the player is integral to success. He'll wear 6.
