He’s really well liked and most National people don’t care about the Pelicans. Kushner wrote about it what seems like years ago and then Zion came back and the team started winning.

Didn’t Kushner call for him to be fired like 20 games into the season?

Mason Ginsberg is such a queer. He will suck Gentry's dick from the back before he puts any real blame on him

Y'all can do whatever you want. I've said countless times that Gentry should be held accountable for results, but what we absolutely *should not* do is say that the Pelicans aren't playing hard BECAUSE of Gentry. They're grown ups. It's a must-win game. Have some fricking pride.

Kushner is the only one who seems to be saying it, you're right. I should give him that credit.

What about that lineup to start the fourth? Does he think we can hold Alvin accountable for that?

Griff loves to talk about building culture, but this is the culture that people are witnessing...

quote:

@HPbasketball
Pelicans make the playoffs if Zion is healthy all year, but they also make playoffs if this team played like it loves playing together even a little.

Bad culture, putting out bad vibes. Bad starts to games. Bad body language when we get down, etc.

Gentry could leave the Pelicans bench mid-game and go start coaching the opponent, and the Pelicans bloggers will tell you in the most holier-than-thou way possible that you're dumb for criticizing the coach.

They’ve been doing that since the Jeff Bower days. NBA bloggers may be the biggest dorks in sports media.

Kushner

This franchise has a lot of issues to examine over the next few weeks.

Head coach is the most obvious, but there are real holes on the roster and limited evidence of success for guys paired alongside Zion.

Formulating values for Ingram, Favors and Ball will be complicated too

Of those 3 Ball is the only one that is difficult.

BI is a max type of player. He is the wing we have been dying for for years, and his ability to shoot the 3 and get to the hole make him invaluable along Zion. If he can bulk up and improve a little on D he will be a superstar.

Favors just doesn't work on this team. His year experiment was a bust.

Ball is tricky. There was a stretch in the season where he was getting lighting it up and getting 10+ assists, but in the bubble he looked like he didn't even belong in the G-League. At times he makes dumb passes, but then next trip down court he drops a dime like he's prime Rondo. I think he requires some time with an actual coach before we move on.

Regardless of those 3, a new HC needs to be priority #1. Gentry has had talent his entire time in NOLA, and outside of 1 year hasn't even been able to squeeze into the 8 seed. That is unacceptable.

Kushner is the only professional when it comes to this.

The Pelican bloggers are the absolute worst. Ginsberg & Shamit Dua especially. Anything the fans complain about, they try and shift the blame to something else. In this instance, they put the onus on the players & never the coaches. McNamara does the same thing, depending if he has taken his meds or not.

Stat nerds that have never played organized sports in their life. Ignoring the fact that coaches have proven to be main culture changers across all team sports, as well in every day business.

It is beyond crazy to me that they listen to Alvin Gentry speak every day, watch the finished product on the court, and believe that he is getting the most out of the players.

It's such a young team. Guess what? Not every player is a self starter, especially young players who have never won before. JJ Redick can only do so much. He can only dictate his message in small doses. It's the coaches responsibility to deliver the big message, and to uphold that standard.

IMO, you can't play Ball and Jrue together. They are both walking turnover machines.

The bloggers I think want access so they are scared to be overly critical.

Kushner doesn't really give a frick. He works for basically the only local newspaper, AND he has a regular job so I'm not sure that he needs this one.

Kushner tells it at how he sees it without fear.

THANK YOU

Also neither of them are consistent scoring options.

if one of those guys is going to be your starting Guard, they need to be paired with a legitimate scoring threat.
