Insurance IS a scam. If I had all the premiums I ever paid, I could buy a new truck, a new house a new heart, and a fricking robot body to house my brain in perpetuity and have money left over.

I hoped to never have to use the liability insurance I have for my company.
I got sued last year. Finally settled two months ago. It was worth every penny I've paid over the past 12 years.

Jackass came in a month later trying to get coverage after he ran a yellow light, hit someone and the person he hit was coming after him for damages. I wish I could say I felt bad for him but dude made his bed.

Only to stupid people that don’t know how it works. Everybody pays a little together it’s enough to replace the person that has a loss. If that hasn’t been you then you’re lucky.
As for health insurance, the system is a mess but you can’t allow people to just buy in when they find out they have an expensive condition...it screws up the math and costs everyone else way more.

Insurance is insurance against catastrophic events. If you don’t want it, don't buy it, unless contractually required (in financing a house or car or driving on American streets) and, if you suddenly get an illness or have an accident, only get the medical care you can personally pay for.
