It's going to be a cat 1 by the time it gets as far north as Ft Polk

the main question is would the wife & kids not mind potentially being without power for a couple days

b/c that could potentially be the case

Incredible to see this -- while such eyewall structure & mesovortices in the Eye are common in very intense typhoons & hurricanes in the Pacific and sometimes elsewhere in the Atlantic basin, that's not the case in the NW Gulf & making a beeline for the coast #Laura #StaySafe

They do this on purpose

Go ‘missing’ for awhile to drum up attention then pop back up with an even bigger following than before

Right no one’s gonna die in a strong building that far inland but the question is are they okay being without power for a while. Which to me is part of the whole hurricane experience and makes it what it is but a lot of people don’t want to deal with that.

In the comments he said he's long gone from there. People were rightfully concerned he was a goner. Hopefully nobody stayed anywhere on 82 down there.

fricking nuts.

Rita was still a tropical storm when it made it there. Southfield flooded a bit. It was crazy.
