but the special advisory was to knock off the tropical storm warning for NOLA
Still think it's odd that they just didn't wait until 4 pm to let it expire.
Might have did that becasue at 4 they will issue watches for Laura and didn't want more confusion?

That depends on what you mean by not in danger. Storm surge and obvious shite like that? Yeah, but based on the current forecast wind is still a problem. The storm isn't moving slow so it doesn't really have time to weaken much. They're pushing 100 mph+ winds in that region depending on the track so if you have a lot of trees around yeah, you're in danger.

Where are you evacuating from? Aren't you in Houston?

I live on the lake.

I have a ton of subs that work for me that I pay weekly. I need to be able to do my payroll with the internet and electricity on Thursday. I can't be without power so I have no choice really and don't want to risk my business.

. It will be a TS at best by the time it gets there.
You will likely be safe in Shreveport, but tropical storm winds can still knock out power which would be very inconvenient.

Yeah it’s not wreckless for the average person to stay in Lake Charles even with Rita-like storms, it’s just incredibly uncomfortable.

but I was also trying to stay relatively close to get back quickly if anyone staying needs help. That's why I figured Shreveport because that's a 3-hour drive
why I was thinking BR

We need to come back down to earth in this thread. Shreveport or Monroe might "get hit" but you wouldn't be in danger there.

No doubt. I will probably hit up a casino hotel and don't they usually have back up generators?

I'm supposed to be looking at something in Lake Charles at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday - should I be worried or if i head back east at 10:00 a.m. will the storm still be out in the gulf?
Posted on 8/24/20 at 1:59 pm to SlowFlowPro
Can somebody predict if I will lose power in BR?
It's nut cutting time on this decision to buy a generator or not.
Thanks for the help.
