I just checked the LSU media department and there have been no blm announcements from the dept in the last 5 weeks. does this mean the regents have moved on quietly. maybe caught a lotta feedback about how stupid the Middleton naming was.

I have no insight, but I bet there were a lot of big money donors who threatened to cut off the gravy train if they went further.

Seems right. They are just hoping they can sit on the sidelines. Will be harder to do if there is a football season.

One can only hope that this is the case. You never know what's going on behind-the-scenes, but I'm hoping some of the mega-rich donors contacted LSU and reminded them that 1) BLM was co-founded by people who are openly Marxist, and 2) At least one of whom has referred to white people as a "sub-human species."

And if so, I'm sure these mega-rich donors reminded the school that the donations could stop at any time.

I am not what would be considered a "big money"donor, but I am a faithful contributor to the athletic foundation. I was sent a TAF email and part of my response was this:

"I am not able to donate in good conscience to an organization, even one that I support as much as LSU, until LSU makes clear their stance on this anti-American Marxist organization. Black lives matter as much as anyone else’s, the BLM organization is, however, an affront to any decent human regardless of their color, creed, or ethnicity."

I added that the very things the disgraceful BLM org is advocating for (destroying the nuclear family, defunding police, etc) are completely antithetical to the idea of ensuring that black communities are safe places for its members to thrive in.

This was part of the response I received:

"During the weekend of June 12th, the phrase “Black Lives Matter”, was displayed on LSU scoreboards and in social media to coincide with a peaceful “unity rally” organized by LSU and Southern University students. The phrase does not endorse a specific organization, or a specific set of policies and it was meant to demonstrate LSU’s understanding and support for concerns expressed by students."

That sounds reasonable to me.

In other words, they (LSU) fell for it. Or they are covering their bases from a political standpoint. Either one leaves a bad taste in my mouth as an alumnus.

LSU 100% reads responses from donors. I fired one off a couple of years back and said I wouldn’t be donating again until the then President and AD were gone. Lo and behold, a week after they were let go, I get an email saying that both the things I wanted were accomplished and how much would I like to donate. I was stunned. Bluff called.

The phrase was started by a specific organization. Whether or not it was their intention is irrelevant. Using that phrase is supporting the organization by bringing legitimacy and free media exposure.

But it wouldn’t surprise me if no one at LSU did research about the organization they were advocating for.

Yes, it does. But is this statement the same as what they tell everyone? Or do they have another customized response for known BLM supporters?

So did they or did they not donate to, or pledge to donate to, the organization?

BS. Members of BLM will make sure your arse gets cancelled, or they will beat you to within an inch of your life if you dare modify their phrase to something even as mild as “All Lives Matter.” They have established that that phrase is sacrosanct in what it says, and what it doesn’t say.

Big mistake by LSU to align themselves with that bunch. They could have easily shown support for racial harmony and unity without tying themselves to BLM (which that scoreboard stunt most definitely did).

i have no doubt that LSU experienced some severe backlash that they didn’t expect at all. This statement is nonsense but pretty much proved that. I’m sure they were flooded with emails saying the same kind of thing and big time donors who threatened to stop donating
