I'm sure you think there's some connection here. I'd love to hear it. Cause, I need a laugh.

What does the FCC do when censorship happens?

What does the FCC do about the current censorships?

We should have done something to force them to classify themselves correctly rather than paint with a broad brush. This never turns out well in the end, even if it feels good right now.

Force them to follow the laws of platform vs. publisher.

However I don't know if I care if a private business censors your post on their site.
I don't care either.

I DO CARE that the govt grants them protections under the theory that they are simply platforms though.

Remove the protections. And, viola'. Problem solved. Alas, you want to watch the platforms squeal their asses off? Cause they'd squeal like bitches

On Monday, the Department of Commerce, as directed by President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order on Preventing Online Censorship, filed a petition to clarify the scope of Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act. The petition requests that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) clarify that Section 230 does not permit social media companies that alter or editorialize users’ speech to escape civil liability. The petition also requests that the FCC clarify when an online platform curates content in “good faith,” and requests transparency requirements on their moderation practices, similar to requirements imposed on broadband service providers under Title I of the Communications Act. President Trump will continue to fight back against unfair, un-American, and politically biased censorship of Americans online.

Scroll to the bottom of this page. What do you see?

When your platform has share buttons on pretty much every single online news and opinion source in the entire world... when your platforms are featured inside every store, is used by every government to share information, it might be time to regulate. At the very least they should provide time to differening views of all types. The damming of information flow to create a controlled narrative goes against everything the spirit of the First Amendment stands for. The best ideas WILL win in a just environment.

Suppose your phone company listened in on your calls, and cut out the parts that they don't like, or don't agree with?
or even more than that, the other person's phone company did it.

Exactly. These are trusts. They engage in anti-competitive business practices and have formed functional monopolies.

And now they are engaging in editorial censorship and are thus publishers. Not open platforms.

Time for some trust busting.

So does this establish precedent to reclassify these platforms as publishers?

How is this related to Net Neutrality? Do you have an actual argument or are you just pulling shite out of your arse to make yourself not feel as ignorant as you are?

Facebook is not a platform anymore.
It offers every means of communications and should be treated same as cable companies. You tube is no longer just a video up link site- music, TV, and news censorship.

Stop mislabeling them and the amount of control they have over a large segment of our country citizenship lives.

These are monopolies.

The issue is whether they should be able to restrict content without reciprocity.

And having a forum is different than providing a platform. Social Media has been guarded as utilities while acting like publishers for years.

This EO doesn't change a thing. I hope it's a prelude to real action, but I doubt it.

It should when the government gives them immunity from liability as a platform
