Received a standing ovation. McArthur is a big enough name in Christian circles that Gavin Newsom will tread lightly, so not to wake the silent majority. There were some reports that local officials intended to cut power to the church, but that did not happen.

McArthur and then-San Francisco mayor Newsom went at it over gay marriage on Larry King 15 years ago.

Don't arrest protestors, can't arrest church goers.

Fair is fair.

Place would have gone nuts with a capella singing. That would have been cool.

However, I do feel that McArthur is being irresponsible here. It's one thing to hold church in civil disobedience...but he could have at least required masks, and organized physical distancing. C'mon dude...

That's not asking a lot.

Praise God.
Leaders told us that it was essential to keep liquor stores, abortion clinics, and such open-but not churches. I have a question. Am I to believe that God instructed us to not assemble as a Church, but I see these same people who expect me to believe that God has given them the “OK” to go, often, to Wal-Mart, Dollar General, Belks, Market Place (Grocery Store), Oil Lube Station, Pizza Hut, Convenient Store, City Hall, Restaurants, The Gulf, Sporting Good Store, and other places too numerous to name? Wow, how can I have confidence in the workers at McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Whataburger, Hardees, Ruby Tuesdays, and Waffle House that they are safe and careful in preparing my food and handling it? So much so that I put it in my mouth and consume it and wipe my mouth with the napkins which they hand me through the window or on premises? But, I can’t trust nursery, children, and youth workers at church to be careful? I can’t have confidence that Pastors, Deacons, Leaders, Greeters, and other workers will exercise utmost caution to insure my safety?

Good for McArthur. While it's been a struggle for a lot of churches to abide by government regulations on social distancing and even forgoing in-person meetings, there is certainly a difference between circumstances of worship and elements of worship. Singing praise to God is an element of worship that is critical to what true worship is, and for the governor to say they can't sing is to dictate how the Church is to worship, which is certainly not acceptable.

It wasn’t a religious service, he was protesting the devil. It’s all good.

As long as mass protests are on going there is no reason church services should be banned. None.Zip. Nada.Zilch.

My own beliefs about religion aren't even relevant here, because it's absolutely batshit insane to tell a group of people they can't get together to do what they want and what they have a right to do because of a virus while the same people trying to forbid it have not one word to say about the thousands of worthless humans standing shoulder to shoulder terrorizing major cities every night. Not to mention that while these people are not only assaulting people and property in person, they are also spreading the very same virus and causing a huge spike in numbers. I'm about ready for some kind of shite to hit some sort of fan

I listened to John McArthur on YouTube quite a bit.....he's an original bad arse for the Lord...love the man! This man knows his civil rights as well as he knows scripture.
