I totally get what you are saying. I am rather astounded at what is printed on this site and would like to think that common sense will prevail at some time. On the other hand, I believe there are plenty of fruitcakes that hang around here. There is just no cure for ignorance.

why are conservatives so prone to believe conspiracy theories
because we dont trust shite. if someone told you twelve months ago that in 2020 there would be
1. a mass pandemic. a stay at home mandate..masks for all
2. people actually allowed and encouraged to wreak havoc
on the streets and pull down statues?
3. blm painted on beach boardwalks and in front of trump
tower..
4. someone having their gun confiscated for not firing on
mob of thugs that broke in your neighborhood and were
on your lawn.
5. police defunded
6. rioters actually forming a small village within towns
on and on we go...so forgive us if we are a bit jaded with politicians.

I am a conservative but some of the ridiculous conspiracy theories posted on this site and social media are just cringeworthy. They really paint us in a bad light. I know people will respond with "Russian collusion" but that was so
widely reported by the MSM you can kind of see how liberals who hate Trump would believe it.
I don't know that conservatives are MORE likely to believe conspiracy theories. The source of the conspiracy is just different. Conservatives don't trust government, so you get the deep state, etc. Conservatives also don't trust the media so their sources can be a bit...suspect. (Though this is not without reason, keep reading).
Leftists (I try not to call them liberals anymore) focus more of their wacko theories on either the private sector (capitalism) or shadowy systems that defy definition or measurement: patriarchy, white supremacy, etc.
The problem, and you kinda noted this, is that the media and academics focus (create?) on the wacko right wing stuff, but excuse, soften or downright accept a lot of left wing stuff.
It's nice to be able to frame the narrative.
But yeah, there are a lot of wack job conspiracy theorists on here.

You could have saved yourself some time and just asked, "Why does the left controlling the MSM make conservatives look so bad?"
Because crazy, kooky conspiracy theories are across the spectrum.
The anti-vaxxers is a relatively rare "bipartisan" conspiracy - equally at home with the far right, the far left and radical libertarians.
For every QAnon, there is a "muh Russian". For every birther, there is a truther. And so on.

You're not paranoid if they are really out to get you.

You mean stuff like thinking a person on suicide watch in prison who ran a a underage prostitution island for the rich strangled his self to death with toilet paper ? Why would anyOne not believe that .

Many news sources are not just unreliable, but deliberately duplicitous. As are other sources of authority. Reps from the CDC, WHO, NIH, FBI, CIA, etc, etc, etc have publicly lied on multiple occasions. They are not trustworthy.
Politicians lie all the time. Some are held to account, but most are not. Google, twitter, and FB actively suppress conservative voices and materials unfavorable to the left.
So who can be trusted? Suddenly a pic of a young Nazi in an SS uniform surfaces with a tag indicating it is George Soros. The same sources which routinely lie about everything else, claim the pic is actually Oskar Groening rather than Soros.
Is the claim credible? Can it be trusted when coming from thoroughly sullied sources? The answer is "yes" to the former; but "no" to the latter. So conspiracy theorists continue to circulate the image as Soros in an SS uniform.

Like muh COVID-19? The invisible virus that we need to crash the economy and give away our rights and shut everything down over? Who are really the conspiracy theorists in this situation?
Modern day conspiracy theories are ideas that go against the MSM’s narrative, and conservatives are in turn more likely to be “conspiracy theorists” because the media is overwhelmingly liberal and democrats refuse to disagree with them.

It's in the book 'The Smear' by Sharyll Attkisson.
The left cannot debate. So when they get caught lying they simply say 'It's a conspiracy theory.'

I'll answer your concern troll with some concern of my own.
I'm concerned for the mental wellness of people like you who have their heads in the sand on these issues. I'm not concerned for you currently, but I will be concerned for y'all when the reality does finally smack you in the mouth.
These so-called "conspiracy theories" you mention here are pretty damn obvious to those of us who actually pay attention. I mean, there are ongoing trials over this shite...

Conspiracy theories are the new facts. In the past, many were wacko, but most are being proven true now.
Some are proven true, but it's more that they're moving from what you might consider "illegimate knowledges" (witchcraft, astrology, etc.) to "legitimate knowledges". It's more nuanced than that as you still have publics for which they're delegitimized so politicians will need to dogwhistle instead of explicitly addressing in order to build broad coalitions, but the OP has a point that the RW has become relatively open to them and has a relatively smaller counter-public for which they're delegitimized such that they're made pretty explicit sometimes.

the word conspiracy theory was created by the CIA for this intent alone....makes some think you are crazy and where others dont really wanna talk about it....its the few that actually look into it and get close to answer or find answers that the masses dont wanna hear which in turn labels them crazy
