Is it time to defund all public education and let the silent majority teach their kids conservative and American values? What benefit does public education give us outside of indoctrination?

We continually rank near the bottom in almost every category. Public education has been a massive failure.

Provides barely literate Leftists employment opportunities in the usual fashion: Income Redistribution, paid by the wealth of others.

Would be the best thing to happen to this country in awhile. Education is impossible with teachers basically immobilized.

Totally agree - I still pay my property tax, but we homeschool already. Private schools aren't much better.

A great start would be to get the Fed Gov out of education. They don't belong there and the Dept of Ed is unconstitutional and should be eliminated.

For those of us that can pick up home school, its a great idea. However, there's a strong majority of kids that will become even bigger feral hood rats because their parents dindu nuffin, and do not plan to...

One of the biggest reasons stated by FL’s Gov DeSantis was that the “achievement gap” is widening significantly the longer kids are learning from home. As the father of two boys, one who has always made straight A’s and another who suddenly started making straight A’s and crushed the standardized assessment at the end of the year, I don’t doubt that his statement is true. The parents are responsible for their kids’ education. This is likely exacerbated when A) parents are able/forced to teach their own kids and 2) the class isn’t paced at the rate of the most challenged learner.

All that said, the kids that have to have school back in session to be taught and fed are the ones who are most likely not to go unless their parents are absolutely forced to.

At the time the Department of Education was started we were number one in the world in education.

It is now fiscal year 2019 an almost 100 billion dollar per year entity.

And we are nowhere close to number one in the world in education.

I am sure similar levels of wasted money can be tracked around the country.

Cut it all.

If Antifa gets to pick and choose what to defund I should also.

Defund public schools.

Let the private industry take it over.

I went to public school. Then to LSU and LSU law along with 4 other people in my high school class. We all became attorneys and have great jobs now. Public school did not fail us and among the 5 of us, we have very different political views.

Get the lawyers out of the classroom so teachers can discipline students. That would be a start.
