Where To Get Raw Shrimp In Orange Beach?

I’m going down there next week and I want to make shrimp and grits for the family but I don’t want to pack raw shrimp across three states.
Anyone know where to reliably secure shrimp in the orange beach area that are not small popcorn shrimp from Walmart?

I’d drive over to Pensacola and go to Joe Patti’s. One of the best seafood markets in the country. I’d put them up against any seafood market on the East or West Coast that I’ve ever personally seen from my travels across the country.
Prices at Joe Patties are wholesale not retail.

There’s seafood markets in Bon Secour (Billy’s) that I’d recommend. It’s 100% fresh.
Seafood markets around here tend to carry frozen seafood.

Joe Pattis or Billy’s depending on which direction you are coming and how far you want to drive. OB to Joe Patties is worth the drive to stock up a couple meals worth of fresh seafood. Easy drive down there. Take the beach road until you hit the first set of rail road track and take a right. Can’t miss it.

Billy's Seafood on River road in Bon Secour. Also Aquila Seafood just up the same road. LSUmailman61 works there. Both places have boats at the piers and shrimp on ice. Plus I like the drive to Bon Secour.
Otis2 knows him better than me, but he is a good guy and a great supplier of oysters.

MD I don’t work for Aquila but if you can get me a job, I’ll take it! I’m looking to retire and peddling shrimp sounds fun!
Edit to add I don’t know Otis2 from a toad in the road. Just saw one day on TD of all places he likes my oysters from my Oyster farm! Reminds me, I have some swag to mail him for supporting my small business.

The smoked tuna dip at Joe Pati’s is out of this world. We go a couple times a year and friends grab some for me when they go.
I’ve always heard good things about Billy’s in Bon Secour if you’d rather stay on that side.

All the above are good.

Joe Patti's is more than worth the drive just to see the selection. Their prices are tremendous, just bring an ice chest and they will ice your purchase down for you. We love royal reds and in May their headless were almost half that of Blalocks. The kids and me too love to watch when they bring out a whole tuna to portion out. The Naval Air Museum and a trip to Joe Patti's makes a great way to spend a rainy afternoon...................

Would royal reds make a good shrimp and grits or would they be too sweet?

I like Royal Reds in anything. Or just by their selves But that’s just me.

Not for shrimp I wouldn’t, and I love Joe Patti’s. But they have a weird practice of keeping their shrimp in cold water, rather than on ice. It results in a mushy, waterlogged shrimp imo. But everything else there is fantastic and watching those Asians slicing and dicing those fresh fish is a sight to see.

Sorry. I read something in your posts with Otis that made me think you two knew each other.
I applaud my great powers of deduction. When I rely on them, I'm correct 6.3% of the time.
It would be cute if twenty or thirty people went into their place and asked for lsumailman61.

That water is ice water and I don’t think those shrimp sit in that water very long. I’ve never noticed mushy shrimp and I go there 1-2 times a week. They sell so much seafood so fast I don’t think those girls have time to pick out ice to weigh your shrimp. Old man Patti wants you in and out of there fast as possible. Him giving those girls hell is funny to me. That old man will get on the customers arse for not sticking their hand up in the air when their number is called. That’s part of the charm to me is Mr. Patti cutting up. That place is busier than a McDonald’s on Saturday night. Speaking of Vietnamese I saw 2 Vietnamese carrying a huge tuna in there the other day. I bet that fished weighed 200 pounds dressed. I think the world record for yellowtail tuna is a little over 400 pounds. I don’t have a clue what that tuna weighed before dressed but it had to have weighed a good bit more than me.
