The only randomized control trial of cloth masks vs surgical masks

I really don't understand why people make such a big deal about this
I have no problem with businesses requiring certain attire and people choosing which businesses to patronize. I also am wearing a mask when I grocery shop or walk into a restaurant or whatever.
I do have a problem with the federal government mandating attire and suspending rights based on very debatable science and state governments choosing which businesses and municipalities can and cannot operate or introducing criminal penalties for refusing to comply with random orders based on nothing but worries about federal funding.
And I have many problems with executive branches throwing decrees around with no legislative oversight and any pushback or discussion about this decrees met with the appeal to authority or appeal to ignorance fallacy or worse “just accept it or you want people to die” bullshite.

This study was looking at infection rates in health care workers in hospitals. They were gauging the use of masks as protection of the health care workers, not determining whether masks prevented an infected person from spreading the disease.
That's right. It was a test of health care workers who understand the proper protocol for any kind of mask.
So among this intelligent population, handling their cloth masks properly they were a dismal failure.
Now imagine the general population of idiots with their poorly fitted, imporperly worn, improperly handled, improperly sanitized masks and you have a recipe for spread not containment.
Masks are complete and utter bullshite and you only need to think about this and look around you to realize it.
Masks are a tool for politicians and a feel good measure for morons.

That’s why we study questions that seem to be empirically obvious. In this case, wouldn’t a barrier of any kind obviously because better than no barrier? Alas, the opposite conclusion was reached, no matter how many confounders were controlled for. The cloth mask was more harmful than no mask. Yet your government overlords are ordering you to wear one. Let that sink in.
Anecdotally, since the mask mandate in California, cases per day there have about tripled (in under a month).
Now, I know most of the Calikarens were masked up pretty heavily before, but certainly hasn't helped them out there.

Go ahead. I don't care. Just stay in Louisiana.

This study doesn't indicate the efficacy of wearing a cloth mask in reducing aeresol from the person wearing a mask. It has always been understood wearing a mask doesn't protect the person wearing it but rather the mask helps reduce the aerosol from the wearer. And it's a study from Vietnam and I was told by posters on here we can't trust data from Vietnam when I posted numbers from them.

We're on the same page there. My point is that I think people should be decent enough to put a mask on in public places right now, and not have to be "forced" to by the government. It's quite the reflection of the society we live in these days.

I did too but then I opened a bottle of Tennessee Bourbon.
If you've not tried it, you should.
Back to your point, yes, I need to tap out of this thread like I said. The ignorance and stubbornness is ruining a good bourbon.

Yeah but does it? Sure it does the first time or two, but is it consistent?
Breathing, and sneezing, and coughing into a piece of thin cloth all day and then forcibly breathing heavier and heavier because of the mask and constantly touching the mask you’re breathing and sneezing into and the touching everything else and not washing or sanitizing the mask for days in end of ever?

Again, they failed at doing something that no one is suggesting that they are able to do.

You’re a piece of shite. You and your liver are going to overwhelm the healthcare system and you may choose to drive and the possibly kill or injure someone. Alcohol should be illegal and you should be in jail.

What if that squirt gun that contains virus is shot through that mask and contaminates the mask. Mask wearer, not being trained in proper infection control procedures, keeps adjusting the mask multiple times contaminating their hands which contaminate everything they touch.
It seems that this sick person could infect many more people while wearing a mask improperly. Maybe the sick should just stay home

It is still reducing the amount YOU are projecting. It's not about you.
I could kind of believe this if I didn't see every other mask wearer riding around in their car alone with their masks on. They way people are scared would have you think they missed the last few months where the virus proved it wasn't near what the white coats predicted the death count would be.
You KNOW most of these people will end up developing respiratory problems as they continue to breath in that same homemade mask day after day without washing it. I can't imagine the bacteria build up and maybe when they are nice and sickened by that... they'll get the Kung-flu and won't be able to fight it. No thanks. I'd rather be nice and strong when the virus calls my name. We're not going to get rid of this so we may as well get the damn thing through us and get to living. I honestly don't give a crap about the numbers, the higher they are means the further along we will be. Especially now that we know it's not near as deadly as feared.

We do need more studies on this. But areas that have had strict mask requirements have seen reductions in positive cases according to data. Ibwouldb post a link but I've been drinking and don't have the energy.

This is a pretty good bourbon.
The Federal Government has mandated no such thing and you know it. Why do people make up stuff to support their argument?

Thankfully the American government hasn’t yet. As much as people are begging them to. Other countries have. Plenty of state governments already have.
Is it not possible to debate and discuss this until after it happens?

When did I do this?
